As an Aussie I can see how all of this recognition will pay dividends and reap rich pickings for NZ.There are so many examples of how you guys have seized the moment and gained maximum exposure.the Chinese gooseberry being called the kiwi fruit being exhibit no.1.everytime someone chomps into one they think of NZ,the ABs and how they would like to visit your country. Aussies have nothing like this.Jacinda with the big,big smile and all of the other publicity coups is driving up your international stocks.hats off to our very clever cousins accross the ditch - respect!!!

Im an Aussie and unlike some of my gloating countrymen I am sad to see the blacks go down. I guess the only positive is that its good for Rugby and it didnt happen at next years RWC Blacks to come back stronger Id reckon just became jaded against second rate plodders like my Aussie team.

Rogernomics was right up there with Reagan and thatchernomics. All of them discredited idealologies that originated in the good ole USA.(yeehah!!!) We were saved somewhat in Aussie as we experienced a form of rogernomics lite with a strong protections from the government/unions.Time for NZ to drop these trickle down policies that dont work.A strong public service is vital in a decent social democracy.

What can the guy do? All blacks have depth, technical knowledge and when the crunch comes they keep their heads and roll forward. We aussies will still do alright at the W.C but barring a miracle kiwis will win again next year and probably the one after as well. Without a few past miracles the all blacks would have picked up just about every W.C trophy!!!

I watched the game in Aussie last night fully expecting the blacks to hand out a hiding to SA full credit to the pride SA have in the guernsey.they are not overawed by you guys unlike Aussie union boys. What a great game though SA even held on with a man short. You may well be right about the scoreline of the next match but SA a tougher lot than our wallabies.our tough guys play League.

https://amp.smh.com.au/business/companies/rugby-s-struggle-for-relevance-and-unlikely-grassroots-revival-20180820-p4zyjm.html. This makes interesting reading as to the state of Rugby in Aussie. Even the private schools are now permitting AFL to make inroads into what were the strongholds of Rugby.no excuses from me but although some positives on the club rugby scene looks like you had better get used to thrashing Aussie at union for while yet.

It took the first half to click but then the all blacks screamed into gear to shellacki we Aussies. The Aussie team is relatively talented but we have no depth. Im sure you guys could front 3-4 teams that could make a monkey of us Aussies.i dont know what the answer is because we are no longer producing the Lynagh, Littles,Horans etc.who could give your guys a game and have a bit of passion.we are now Just a bunch of journeymen who are no match for mighty Kiwi s.anyway all the best to my kiwi mates enjoy your deserved win with all of the bragging, swagger and triumphant confidence it brings. Unfortunately over here Rugby is looking to be on life support.

1.28 here in Brisbane right now.prices over there are shocking at least you have the mighty all blacks to barrack for.we have cheap petrol and a rotten Rugby team.

Parramatta went from semis to wooden spoon thanx to the godlike talents of The Hayne plane dont touch him Warriors. When he plays well its great to watch but this would be about 1 in 5 matches.

Its a double. edged sword for you guys with such a dominant team you always expect to win and unlike here in Aussie where support is diffused amongst team support all your eggs are in the black basket. I think the goal kicking was the difference the other night but Barrett a hero the previous few games against an admittedly hopeless Aussie team. I wouldnt go changing things quite yet as the blacks would still be at unbackable odds for RWC..

Love to see you guys point your attention toward the english. One upside of having a fast fading into oblivion rugby side here in Aussie is that our main area of conflict has been removed.Long live our trans Tasman mateship while we can concentrate on sports we do alright at like league and Aussie rules.you guys can kick backside in Rugby paddocks around the world.

The choke term was a sort of compliment in that you guys are always in the box seat for the trophy.if you dont hold it up you were supposed to have choked rather than been beaten by a superior team.in other words NZ always favourites to bring home the silverware. I always remember the kiwi paddler who picked up NZs first gold medal at 2000 Olympics. With all the pressure on and Aussie gloating with a shipload of medals in the bag pulled off a high pressure win with the media breathing down his neck.kiwis generally dont choke!!!

+5−3

If there is a good time to choke its right now and not in the RWC. You guys are still red hot favourites to bring home the trophy from Japan next year. I would say this is a wake up call not a major setback.i wonder even if coachy isnt secretly happy about this result.

The Aussie guys all love to live it large in Steak and Kidney where they believe they are at the centre of the universe (im from what Sydney people consider backwoods Brissy) hard to get these guys out of the big smoke

I agree the ABs consistently good or brilliant but one bad performance and an ignominious exit and gut wrenching flight home to Auckland awaits.the nation in mourning and the rest of the world gloating at NZ once again not being able to live up to the big talk.ABs will need to win every game at RWC and the pressure is on.No other country will be expecting to win and the players will be running towards the tryline with with every NZ citizen on their backs.always its a nerve wracking time.

No other country takes its Rugby as seriously as NZ. SA was courageous and a touch lucky vs you guys.I reckon with the level of National pride and international recognition at stake The All Blacks will pull it together and win the RWC trophy or just about die trying! I cant see anyone else being in the hunt all things going as they should. If the Aussies Jag another cup it will be due to good luck and every card falling our way, even if we lose it wont phase us too much in the scheme of things.

I think a sports popularity has to do with what you grew up playing. Most Aussies grow up with league in the north and AFL elsewhere. Aussie like kiwis love a winner and will jump on any bandwagon if we are winning (we were all yachting experts in the 80s) The problem for Rugby in Aussie is that most dont grow up playing it and down south most cant tell the difference between league and union.the ARU has a major challenge ahead to get us back on track and hopefully revitalise the trans Tasman rivalry I dont know what the answer is not that it would worry you guys much.

SA is the only other nation where Rugby has anything like the prominence it has in AB mad NZ.they are the natural rivals unlike the Aussie GPS schoolboys.Sad that SA now has so many problems as a nation to deal with and (for the Boks) how ABs play has reached a new level attack wise. The Boks traditionally more stodgy relying on kicks for a win.anyway bring it on.Kiwi workmate has said Aussie could get spanked by pumas as well should be great viewing!!!!

Actually a very good idea. Forward play is too specialised in Union for interchanging but the sublime skills of some union backs would transfer easily.many great ex union players made the transition in Aussie john brass,Russell Fairfax and the emperor Wally Lewis. Wasnt the name all blacks coined after missheard English comment that NZ played like they were all backs so attacking and exciting they were.?

What I like about the Kiwi approach to the Olympics is how you target a few sports so as to mine the low hanging golden fruit. Here in Aussie we spread the peanut paste a lot thinner over just about every sport.the end result being you guys generally jag enough medals to attract the international recognition and look to be punching well above your weight.this is money well spent as it definitely pays dividends in the recognition stakes. someone somewhere would be looking on in admiration wanting to know how you do what you do.

The only fear at the moment is coming out of the English camp.they would be wondering whether the win over Aussie was a hollow triumph.Aussie now home on the Qantas 747Â having a nice sleep in sydney and grateful to Jesus they didnt have to face the rampaging merciless ABs!!! Best of luck England ABs will win it by 20+ points and then smash the SAers.

I hope your stuff is better than our stupid Aussie so called skip hop.this genre should be taken away from under the banner of music cos its not really music its main features are how enduring its been and how its got by on so little innovation.

+1−1

I was at a pub last night near Lang park.SA Guernsey outnumbered the (insipid) wallabies shirts.Lang park was half empty and this was a test where we had a hope of a win.admittedly free to air but nobody watches that either!!! Only the besuited GPS die-hards are left to self flaggellate during our annual AB castor oil dose. Looks like you guys will have the field to yourself shortly from what Im seeing on this side of the mighty Tasman sea.

SA was the only country like NZ in that Rugby was no.1 and not well down the list as in other Rugby playing nations. The sad thing now is that this other Rugby behemoth is now on the downward spiral.Looking at Aussie its probably amazing that we were able to Jag two RWCs with NZ or Boks generally favorites back then. Ithink for you guys the hope would be that Europe goes ahead so you can get some worthwhile rivalries going. This would mean a big recognition dividend for NZ as well as a country with a bigger bang on the world stage than population would normally dictate.

+1−1

So far so good for ABs.really seems only bad luck or some poor refereeing can deprive NZ from once again putting the cup in the cupboard for 4 more years. Maybe if ABs were to experience the day from hell and have two players sent off then maybe some other country like England might win it.From what Ive seen though Breaker Upperers more likely to win academy award or mortal engines outdo Spiderman in the box office than another team beat the ABs.

Fantastic to see you guys are leaving nothing to fate, but I think you are all worrying unnecessarily. You could send over dads army under Mr Mannering in the black jacket and they would most wipe the floors with Boks, England Aussie and the rest. That is how far out in front you are. We Aussies would gladly take your castoffs as the pantry is a bit thin over here

Rugby is a percentage game and NZ might need to return to the uglier version of winning via penalties and kicks for goal a la Johnny Wilkinson at the 2003 RWC.This would shock the Rugby World and might just bring you guys another RWC trophy.3 in a row sounds nice.

I would start with following the Japanese by employing all kiwi coaching staff.if Australia wants to jump back up to first tier it would also get the managing staff of Rugby Australia from Nz also a swag of kiwi players could help as well.by availing theselves of all of this kiwi knowhow aussie may never be quite as good as ABs but at least they wont be an embarrassment and could eventually become a team that gets the odd win and keep rugby alive in Aus.

+0−0

Looks like our best hope in the RWC would be for some of your key players to be out crook some favourable reffing decisions and your team to have an extremely off day. These things can happen and when the pressure of favouritism bites ABs have been known to buckle. But I think WRC is yours to lose.

+4−5

Problem with the Wallabies is that Rugby is a niche sport in Aussie played by private school boys with double barrel names and the offspring of kiwi expats. The common man loves league or in the southern states AFL and kind of resent the toffy rugby old boys. Totally unlike the game in NZ where rugby is the no.1 Sport.

+12−13

Steady on John I reckon you can be number one forever you have been the best throughout rugby history so far and unless rugby reaches the same level of interest in other countries as in NZ you will continue to be the worlds finest.

+0−1

Maybe if the Warriors could hook into some of the unbeatable AB Magic they could become like the All Blacks of the NRL. The Broncos used to be the most feared club in NRL but now lost the mojo and just another team.if AWs could instill some AB magic it could be good for NZ right across the board and give you another string to your bow.

+1−3

All Blacks seem to have found the secret recipe to piling on the tries in every game. Our Aussie side tries but is not in the same echelon.the Nth.hemisphere teams are just kidding themselves. I reckon present the RWC trophy to NZ now and save the rest of us our huge serves of the dreaded humble pie next year after watching ABs perform a cake walk.

+4−6

Too right and Johnathan is a guy who pull together A premiership for a smallish Qld. centre like Townsville someone like him could galvanise all of NZ league support he knows how to find a win rather than a loss much like mighty ABs.

+0−2

Many years ago I was in England and the free magazine for expats would always symbolise NZ with an All Black player. NZ has always been rugby central now the All Blacks are close to invincible. This is of course great for NZ as such recognition pays huge dividends via prestige and in economic output. Most people want to get on the bandwagon. We Aussies can only dream of such dominance in an internationally recognised sport.

This is more like it the all blacks back up where they belong. After the losses of recent times and near death experience of England (the team was walking toward the light but luckily turned back) a black wash against Italia was what the rugby doctor ordered hopefully back on track for WC.this is what the whole country is losing sleep about.
