Wow the only argument you guys (ABSupporters) seem to have is which player to pick.I wish the threadbare game over here had your embarrassing riches. That said I love the golden era NZ rugby is in the midst of.Who wouldnt appreciate that? even Aussies like me.
I doubt it. Why should they? Most people have simply wanted Mounga to be given a chance, and probably, like me, hope that he does himself justice. If he does then thats great for the ABs. Not sure why you feel the need to be all sneering about it before anything has actually happened.
No offence to Canes supporters but does anyone else get the feeling Nehe has a hell of a lot of work to do bump Waisake? The latter being a decent winger but also looks for, and often finds, extra work. I used to get excited when Nehe was named...that feels like a long time ago now. Will be great to see how this team fares. Good luck boys
Definitely has a lot of work to do to bump Naholo whos been very good this year on both flanks. That said, Nehe deserves the opportunity to show he can still cut it. If he cant, then Naholo or Bender take back the spot. No dramas. But if he can, then its great news for the team because he offers a real point of difference to every one else we have vying for that spot. People have questioned his selection in the squad but I think its been really well handled by the coaches.
Good team selection. Argentina are a good side and its a game where we have home advantage and an opportunity to give our full squad a chance to play a tough game. With the limited games next year due to the world cup and a tough NH schedule this year, we need to be testing our depth
Nehe deserves his chance at a comeback as per the All Blacks unwritten code. Agree though New Zealand has an abundance of good wingers so he is going to need to ignite the inner-fire to keep his spot in the team.
The only real point of interest for me with this line up is Milner-Skudder. Is he the same player he was 2 years ago? He hasnt looked like it so far this season and with every NZ Super team having at least one blockbuster winger hes probably lucky to be there. Still, Ive always liked how he plays on the field and how he conducts himself on it so good luck to him.
Oh come on Pango, you cant let reason, logic and freedom of choice enter into a rant about NZ poaching players.Im sure Steve Hansen was hanging around the delivery ward when he was born with an All Black jersey and a contract.
Good call from Hansen and his merry-men. Crotty and Cane getting another weeks recovery, Mounga and a bunch of new forwards getting a start is all good news for building depth. Even if we dont win by 30 points, of even lose for that matter this is the time to be testing new combinations and building experience in the squad.
That may be the case, but just remember a lot of the current Samoan and Tonga players are born in NZ or Aus. Good for all countries then? The Pacific countries should be more worried about the English and French poaching their players these days.About 40 Pacific born players have played for the All Blacks out of about 1200 players ever, that is 0.0333%. Having said that there should be a Pacific team in Super rugby or even in the Rugby Championship.
Hes a big boy. Im pretty sure no one held a gun to his head and forced him to play for us. He made that decision
I wanna know why so many fans are thinking were winning this by 30 or 40 points weve only beaten Argentina by more than 30 twice in their existence in the RC. A-team or not, they wont drop to us by that many, Nico Sanchez kicks all his goals and will keep them in the game (they should score 1 or 2 tries too) for a decent period. They shouldnt threaten to beat us but they always play above themselves against the ABs and are a team who wont back down before 80 mins. 38-19 to us
J Barrett is having a well deserved spell? Hes only played a handful of games hasnt he?
the kids is only 21 playing international rugby... so yes a well deserved
I think Steve Hansen knows best - he has his number 1 and no amount of public opinion will sway him. Barrett is still in a different league.
What part of the coaching concept that you need 30 to 35 players dont people get. Considering International Rugby is a 23 player game even more so than the top domestic competitions it makes sense to have 30 to 35 players available. This is especially so in a Knockout tournament competition such as a World Cup where anything can happen to your player Personnel as we have learned.I applaud the current coaching but we may not necessarily win WC2019 as one must remember even if you win 80 to 90% of your rugby games that means once every 3 World Cup tournaments youll be knocked out based solely on the numbers.
Most people just want the ABs to continue to have great 10s? We all know BB is a special player in multiple positions, but that does not mean Mounga should not also get a chance.
Hes not behind the backline, hes behind the forward pack. And its not the Rolls Royce of ABs forward packs, its experimental. Add that to Perenara who was in questionable form for the Canes, and with a lame duck winger, his work is cut out for him. All class though so Im sure you will come away impressed. To your credit, at least you think he will be the second best first five - unlike those that think McKenzie is the answer.
Tactical kicking, converting points and good decision making are the keys to #10. Putting another player in space and setting up tries is just as valuable as scoring them on your own. The ABs need multiple great options in all positions and that does not happen if you only every play your #1.
He will hopefully just do the basics really well and avoid too much risk-taking.
