Essentially the All Blacks have to become mediocre for the Bledisloe to be a contest again. No thank you.
Sport is about close contests and tense finishes. The Bledisloe has become so predictable that it is no wonder that Australians cannot be bothered watching it. Seeing that Rugby Union rates behind Rugby League. Aussie Rules and soccer that wont change any time soon.
In other words,NZ should lie down and let Aus win.Because, you know,it is all about them.Funny,I didnt hear this bleating out of Aus when they held the cup between 1998-2002.And in that period there were a number of 2 test series which made it even harder for NZ to win it back.Of course, once NZ won it back Aus changed the goalposts and had it restored to a 3 test series.Instead of whining,go out and win it.But,dont expect NZ to bend over backwards to accommodate you.
Go the mighty All Blacks, kick their butts for another 16 years.
True - the All Black dominance is getting a bit boring.Remember those thrilling matches when the Aussies had players like Campese, Farr-Jones and Eales and we were on the edge of our seats ?? Want to beat them but also want a real match.
Nothing boring in humiliating the Wallabies with 15 years of defeat, and in recent years watching Cheika embarrass himself in front of the cameras subsequent.
so why are you reading rugby articles and commenting on a rugby forum?
When the Wallabies are winning they have lots of fans and its another great Australian world beating team. When they are losing, rugby is just the fourth most popular winter sport, a minority sport, that nobody cares about.
I can hear what hes saying.. but its not the All Blacks job to play easy and let them win. its always up the incumbent to make the opposition step up and take it. stop making out this is the All Blacks fault for being too good over the past decade.
sport is sport and sure close and tense games can add to the experience...but sport also coughs up one sided affairs..personally I like the team Im supporting to put the opposition to the sword..it is a thing of beauty when the all black machine is rolling along destroying all in their way..I find that more satisfying than a close tense win...like who actually enjoyed the 2011 world cup final?...for me the intensity of it was the opposite of enjoyment
A second string team will beat the Aussies too. Send our under 20s team.
even Gregan, larcomb and mortlock. god I hated mortlock. begrudgingly respected him too.
Some interesting comments on here as about how aussies are really into bledisloe and are just faking the lack of interest until they win. Not sure why people seem to need to believe this because its not 1. Nobody cared when they made the final of the last RWC. League-ies are generally totally uninterested in Union and AFL fans are fixated on AFL. They seem to be very binary when it comes to their support of a sport. And that pretty much accounts for the majority of Aussie sport fans. The Aussies have punched far about their weight for years in rugby. I mean, where exactly is the rugby union heartland supposed to be? Ive lived in Sydney for 10 years and it certainly aint here!
exactly....what does Ella expect?..so if the wallabies start beating the abs again rugby becomes exciting for him?..its up to the aussies to develop their game to a level that is competitive with NZ...the all blacks are not going to drop off their game so that the aussies feel good about the bledisloe again...Australia have had good periods over NZ historically including the Eales, Gregan, Larkham era..but since they first played a game against each other up until now , the all blacks have totally dominated them when you look at the record, stats etc.its just like the kangaroos have dominated the kiwis over history...we have to suck that up and get on with it and try to get better ..the wallabies and their fan base have to do the same including Ella
The problem with NZ Rugby at the moment, is that theres too much of it! We are saturated nearly the whole year with Rugby. Super Rugby, Mitre 10, Sevens, All Blacks, Womens comp, grass roots and 1st XIV. Its just too much it becomes boring.
Exactly right, Ive lived here for years and youve put it perfectly, youd think no one watched or talked of the bledisloe, every year the same spin, its still relevant as ever. Im sick of hearing it, come Monday morning if the all blacks lose the whole building will be the biggest of wallaby fans. Afl and league are provincial and played week in week out with history, its a terrible comparison, and most people cant name any other Socceroo apart from Tim Cahill. Get real.
I lived in Sydney for a year in 2014, the year that the Waratahs won the super rugby. One thing became very clear to me, that Australians do not care about rugby at all. Hardly anyone knew or more importantly cared that the final was on and hardly anybody celebrated that they won
Win some, lose some. The trick for Oz is to step up and do it again. The problem is, they only have perhaps 3 or 4 players max who can compete at the same level, and none of them can inspire the team to play. Bit like the NZ Rugby League team.
Thats not the All Blacks fault, and I suspect, with the age of many of their current stars, post WC, its only going to get worse for the Wallabys
True wallabies fans would be delighted with a win, problem is they are few and far between.
