So many people have bagged the Aussies but the funny thing is this Aussie side isnt actually that bad.Its undeniable that Ireland are the second best team in the world at the moment. Well when Aussie played them in June:Aussie won 18-9Ireland won 26-21Ireland won 20-16Across the 3 games both teams scored the same number of points.Given how even these games were and how close the scores were in all 3 matches, youd have to say that Aussie are at a similar level to Ireland.I know that home ground advantage comes into it, but the reality is that Aussie matched it across a three test series with the second best team in the world ... they were then completely blown away by the best team in the world!

Come on people - Santa Claus is based on an actual person - a monk named St. Nicholas, who was born around 280 A.D. in Patara, near Myra in modern-day Turkey. Santa Claus is a man! This PC nonsense is really getting out of control!

Tricky one ... the quote: always be yourself unless you can be batman, then be batman. dates back to 2009 and was not invented by NagaoNagao has put this quote into a picture that includes a stylized Batman cowl - Batmans cowl is already subject to copyright (including derivatives).A quick internet search comes up with hundreds if not thousands of pictures of this quote. Most of which are accompanied by some version of Batmans cowl, often stylised. So the quote isnt hers, Batmans cowl (or any derivative thereof) isnt hers and shes not the first to put the quote and the cowl together on the same sheet. So Id suggest that if challenged her copyright wouldnt hold up, indeed it seems likely shes illegally using DCs IP.If anything Adairs should be contacting DC (which they may have already done) to get the licensing rights to sell these images.

A - NZ does not have a gun problem (as pretty much any stat you care to look up will confirm)B - the crimes involving guns are almost never committed by licensed gun owners, so law changes regading ownership and registration will not achieve any additional gun safety (as evidenced by overseas failures - Google Canada gun registration failure) whilst being prohibitively expensive.C - the policing and sentencing for those that commit gun crime is a joke. Rather than spend millions on B above, we should put more resources into policing crims (mainly gangs) and putting them in jail (for a long time)

I grew up in a poor household with a broken family, money was always tight and there was certainly no cash for Uni.Quite simply without a student loan I could not have afforded to go to UniThe degrees I got set me up for a great career. Now at 40, I have a 5 bed / 3 bath home in one of Wellingtons most expensive suburbs, I have hundreds of thousands invested in shares as well as a couple of investment properties, Ive travelled on holiday to more than 60 countries around the world, I have a huge social group - almost all of whom I met at Uni, I currently run my own business and choose to work 3 days a week. All of this for the price of a $45k student loan - which I paid off within 5 years of leaving Uni.I am eternally grateful to the student loan scheme (and by extension the NZ taxpayers) that made all this possible.

I went to the Wellington parade with my daughter who is 2 years and 4 months old. She was beside herself with joy and excitement when Santa went past on his sleigh, jumping up and down and calling out to him. Seeing the pure delight on her face was awesome. The number of years that you have in your life where you experience such unadulterated joy and wonder is very short (and seems to be getting shorter with each generation). You really have to question the selfish motivations of an adult that would deliberately take away this experience from a small child. We all have years and years to be old and cynical, why not let kids be kids and enjoy special moments such as seeing Santa in a parade.

Mahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! So essentially your definition of discrimination is: choosing one person over anotherI think that sums up the completely insane PC world we live in! .Some people (such as enz) think that every time someone isnt chosen for something then theyve been discriminated against!

Fantastic game from BB, he really is class. Ive always been a big BB fan but that doesnt mean I cant also like Mounga. I hope he gets some bench time soon and then 2 or 3 starts against lesser teams later in the year. We need 2 good International 10s going into WC next year (with DMac as a 3rd choice option.)

I actually think proper tours being put back in place would be very popular. A team tours 1 country for 6 or 7 weeks - playing 3 tests and a bunch of games against provincial unions. These type of tours would allow visiting teams to build into the test series (currently they are underdone and usually not very competitive).Playing tour matches against Provincial Unions would be a huge shot in the arm for rugby at a grass roots level. As a young fulla I remember watching Wairarapa Bush play Australia (1986), Argentina (1989) and France (1994). These games were always packed to the rafters and created huge excitement in the community and engagement with the sport. To ensure teams send their best teams, you could create a test series championship (with a points system) and perhaps every 4 years (2 years before/after RWC) you could crown a test series champion (+placings) - which would come with the award of meaningful financial incentives. It would be a model thats very different to RWC so would in no way devalue that tournament.

Surely the issue and the focus should be on all of the crims with guns!? Only around 1% of firearms offences last year were by licensed owners ... licensed gun owners are not the issue. This reminds me of the anti-smacking law, good people who give their kid a tap on the bum to keep them in line are punished and yet it does zero to stop people who beats their kids, because they dont care about the law anyway.I know lets ban lighters because they can be used by arsonists to start fires...

this is really getting boring now.Mounga will undoubtedly get his chances this year. Hell get some game time off the bench and probably even one or two starts against lower ranked teams, perhaps Japan and Italy on the Northern tour. Hell probably have 7 or 8 ABs caps by the end of the year. Hell be in the AB environment, growing his confidence and starting to feel like he belongs, learning the moves and calls, getting specific work done by the ABs coaches in any areas they think he needs to improve etc etcIf he excels during this period with the ABs and BB doesnt look too flash (or is injured), then hell surely get to start some more important tests. This is the path that has been tried and tested by the ABs for a long time now and works extremely well. Its is by far their preferred process and usually only changes when their hand is forced by injuries. Its better than this process: Oh wow a guy had a great Super Rugby campaign, lets rush him straight into the starting 10 role for the ABs against the Saffas and the Ozzies, because its the same thing and hell be awesome!

Dave there is NO rule in the World Rugby rulebook that says the ref can award a scrum if he obstructs a defender. If the ball or player carrying the ball hits the ref and that disadvantages one team then the ref can award a scrum. So the ref was 100% correct in his application of the law and was right in awarding DM a try.You could argue that its stupid that this is allowed, and perhaps thats correct, however as the laws currently stand the ref undoubtedly made the correct decision. Youd do well to remember that Marshall was a very good AB but that doesnt make him a good commentator and he clearly has a poor grasp of the current laws (which have changed considerably since his playing days)

So according to the developers:Wigmore put a value of about $115 million on the port bundle, including Bledisloe and Captain Cook wharves â“ a value based on its use as a port, not as prime residential or commercial land. The promoters valued Eden Park at about $250 million, which was similar to the figure in the Eden Park Trust Board accounts but did not reflect its value as a housing site.Thats $365 million, but its pretty clear that those valuations are a fraction of the amount that Auckland council could get for them if they sold them on the open market. Indeed a recent piece of work (July 2018) undertaken by Greater Auckland shows that land values in the area close to the port are worth between $8,000 and $16,000 per sqm. If we take the midpoint of $12,000 per sqm, then that values the 14 hectares of port land at $1.68 billion. The Eden Park site is 10 hectares and according to the Greater Auckland valuations, residential land values in this area are worth around 4,000 per sqm - so $400 million for that piece of land on the open market. So all up thats land value of $2.1 billion dollars. Then theres the cost of moving the car storage, the loss of 10,000 jobs, loss of $170 million revenue per annum, plus whatever else. Therefore in reality this will cost the city at least $2.5 billion! So the developers are getting $2.5 billion in value and returning only $1.8 billion in the form of a stadium - a nice little $700 million profit for them!! .... and the council will provably underwrite the whole thing. Talk about the deal of the century, for the developers!

So using facts and not circumstantial evidence: World rugby rankings are based on a points system - e.g. NZ currently has 93.99, Ireland have 90.12 etcThe average number of points for the TRC teams = 84.34The average number of points for the 6N teams = 82.74Or taking the the ranking numbers - TRC average is 5.5 vs 6N at 6.33So using his own benchmark. the 6N comes off second best whichever way you cut it.

yes and no. Hes currently on around $700k+ a year with the ABs. by the end of 2019 hell have been in the ABs for 8 years at an average of around $500k a year i.e. $4 million. + endorsements on top.So even though his career could be short he has already earned far more than most people ever will and his family is already set up for life. His next AB contract is likely to be well over $1 million NZD a year. So if he stays with the ABs until the 2023 RWC (another 4 years), all up hell have earned around $9 million playing for the ABs.Hell have endorsements on top of that which would no doubt contribute at least another $3 million. So lets say $12 million all up.In 2024 hell be 32, so could easily have a good 3 or 4 years left in him, so he could still go to France and cash in.

what a moronic piece - for a start its called Victoria University of Wellington - Wellington is already in the name! But the argument that you need to identify with the city the University is in, also looks rather silly when almost none of the worlds top universities include their city in the name. Clearly a vice-chancellor having a personal crusade so that hes remembered for something. It all reminds me of the waste of money and effort that went into the NZ flag change - indeed why dont you follow a similar process and put it to a vote. All present students and past alumni get to vote on either keeping the old name or changing to a new name.

I think Healey needs to try and understand the difference between myth and fact.Historic win average by team:SA 62%England 55%France 54%Australia 51%Ireland 45%All Blacks: 78% (all matches played) 84% for the 295 tests theyve played since rugby turned professional in 199586% for the 242 tests theyve played since the start of 200089% for the 120 tests theyve played since the start of 2010These are facts: the All Blacks are by a considerable margin the most winning team in the history of rugby and the rate at which they win is only increasing, despite the fact that many countries have considerably larger resources to draw on.

Maori actively wanted the treaty, they wanted British settlement and technology and they were also scared of other colonists - had the Spanish, Dutch, French, Belgians etc won the race to colonise NZ, there would be no Maori now and there would certainly never have been a treaty.

I guarantee all of the parties take note of the polls and treat them very seriously, election year or not! Theyd be stupid not to, especially given how accurate they usually are.Polls show how popular, or not, parties are and if a party is polling poorly it shows them they need to step their game up or change tack.

Theres a big part of this equation that always seems to be ignored. In 1960 NZ had a population of 2.37 million, in 2018 that population has increased to 4.74 million (i.e. it has doubled). But guess what, in 2018 there is still only the same amount of land (which is where the real value lies) in NZ as there was in 1960 - so on average everyone in 2018 will only have half the amount of land compared to people in 1960 ... and this is only going to go one way with NZs population predicted to be 6 million by 2050. Even looking at a much shorter time frame - NZs population was only 3.86 million in 2000. So its increased by 22.8% in the last 18 years! On a global scale its even worse, the Worlds population in 1960 was 3 Billion, 6.1 billion in 2001 and its now 7.6 billion!!

@Yeah The BoysWhat a completely bizarre comment, based on absolutely nothing. The ABs under Shag have played 86 tests , 39 (or 45%) of which have been against NH teamsABs have played NH teams (incl Lions) 39 times since the start of 2012 - winning 35, losing 3 and drawing 1. Thats a winning percentage of 89.74%Excluding the composite Lions team gives 34 wins, and 2 losses at a winning percentage of 94.4%So in fact Shags winning percentage would increase if the ABs played the NH teams more often.

However in the quarter: Auckland was only down 0.4 per centNew Plymouth 0.3 down per centChristchurch down 0.2 per cent Queenstown down 1 per cent Small provincial towns across the country were seeing strong growth and the southern part of the country, including Dunedin and Invercargill, were also increasing in price. So given the numbers above, some places must have absolutely massive drops to push the nationwide residential property values down by 1.6 per cent!?

How do you not understand that investing in property is taxed the same way as your small business? In your small business you are taxed on net profit (your income less your expenses) ... well guess what so are property investors! They pay tax on any net profit they make (whats left after rent minus expenses). Why cant people understand the difference between capital gains and income??Think about this - if your business becomes extremely successful and you sell it for millions and make a huge capital gain (compared to the amount you invested in it) - under the current tax regime you will not pay any tax on the gains you make on the sale of your business. If capital gains taxes are introduced, when you sale your business for millions and make a large capital gain, you will be taxed on it.

These numbers just dont seem to stack up...The article states that you need to have $2 million saved when you retire (if you were earning $200k p.a.) in order to have an income that is 45% of your pre-retirement final salary...With $2million invested (even conservatively) you should easily be able to get at least a 5% return.... which is $100k. Now $100k is 50% of the final salary figure of $200k... so youre already above 45% and thats without even touching any of the $2million.If you also ate away at the $2 million and planned to have zero left by the time you die (93 in this scenario) then youd easily increase the 50% above to 60% / 65%

With the likelihood that tests will see more and more red cards, I wonder if its time to review the sanction for receiving one. They just ruin the game.I think a player that gets a red should be off for the rest of the match but their team should be able to bring on a replacement after 20 minutes. So its still a very heavy penalty but doesnt completely kill the match.

DMac looks great at fullback when a game opens up but is far from convincing at 10.If the ABs Have the backline that theyve used in the last 2 tests, then they have 3 excellent fullback options - i.e. B Barrett, J Barrett and B SmithSo whats the point of selecting another fullback on the bench that can play a bit of 10 at a pinch? 10 is such an important position that it would make much more sense to have a specialist 10 in the reserves. So if your backline is:J BarrettB SmithALBCrottyIoaneB BarrettA Smiththen in the reserves you could have Perenara, Mounga and LaumapeYou then have cover for every position with a proper backup 10!this would also work if you slotted SBW in for ALB or if you moved B Smith to 15 and played NMS on the wing or even if you played a specialist wing such as Naholo because B Barrett can cover 15.

but it wasnt hindsight was it!?The carers told the vet BEFORE taking blood, that it would stress the birds and theyd die...Also theres massive negligence on the Vets behalf - Ron Stewart said it took 75 minutes for the vet get the blood from both birds after she had trouble trying to find veins. Both Casper and Stumpy were screaming in pain, he said - Even a halfway decent vet would have noticed the distress being put on the birds and would have stopped the procedure well before 75 minutes!!

If you have $2 million in investments you would easily earn a 5% return = $100kYou would also get approx $20k state pension so $120k earnings in total$120k less tax = $87.8k$200k less tax and 8% kiwisaver = $125.3kSo youd have $87.8k in retirement vs $125.3k whilst working - which is 70% as much. This doesnt take into account things like free doctors and gold cards for over 65s which reduce their costs. And this is without utlising any of the $2 mill capital. So the premise of this article: i.e. that you need $2mill savings (if you were earning $200k whilst working) to provide retirement income of 45 per cent of your pre-retirement final salary is demonstrably incorrect!!!!

Not sure about Chch, but in Wellington a retaining wall under 1.5m does not need resource consent (as long as it is the same distance or more from the boundary e.g. if you build a retaining wall that is 1.5m high, it must be at least 1.5m from the boundary). So if the rules are the same in CHCH they could build one, 1.5m high, then perhaps create a small terrace then build another one of 0.5m.

The Express ran an article 4 days ago - with Jose Mourihno talking about how England can win Theres an independent.co.uk article from 7 hours ago stating that more and more people now believe England can win.The Sun - by far the biggest UK paper ran an article recently where Harry Redknapp (if you want a respected pundit) stated that England will WIN the World CupSo before you call something a myth perhaps take 5 minutes to do a bit of research. Even in the BBC article you cite - Chris Sutton states We should be excited because England have a chance of winning the World CupSo pretty easy to prove this myth is indeed the reality.
