Project 8011 plans to repopulate central Christchurch

Interesting that the council research group didnt point to poor city planning, lack of parking, lack of infrastructure difficulty in moving around in the inner city, resource consent holdups, red tape and general poor rebuild performances from central and local government. My rates have increased dramatically to pay for the councils ridiculous inner city design. I have yet to meet anyone who has given it the thumbs up. the blank canvas we had after the earthquakes looks like it has been scribbled on by a bunch of pre-shoolers. My question is, how much did we have to pay for the committee to look past itself and present some more expensive outcomes?

Eden Park: Stadium of the future or housing site?

Same conversation residents have that purchase a house next to Ruapuna raceway and then complain about the noise.unless Helen has been living next to Eden Park before it was built, I would suggest she like it or lump it..you would hope she knew the ramifications of buying a house nearby! Using here position to influence the argument shows her in a poor light..its like buying a house at the end of a runway then moaning about the air traffic...boring!

Exactly and knowing Fletcher Building is involved you can guarantee quality will be low and corners will be cut.. look at their performance in Chch when they were the main rebuild contractor..the government never learns and the public pay for their idiocy

Lol @ PlumbBob saying Landlords are privileged to own a rental! I still remember the day the bank manager walked up my driveway with a bag of cash and open arms, while I was counting my unemployment benefit, asking if I wanted to buy a rental...from memory Santa was with him and the Tooth Fairy was sitting on the unicorn they came on...pffffftt! This government is desperately trying to tick this off so they dont get dragged under the bus at the next election for not following through. The Christchurch City Council is a TOTALLY different story run by Helens old mate...$300M hand out and we ARE getting a new stadium! No bother the council will require everyone to pushbike to the games and gigs...Auckland should sit back and watch how our council makes a mess of it and then do the opposite thing.
