I agree he uncovered evidence and set an innocent man free.

Deliver us from evil was one of his best book along with In Gods Name...I enjoyed reading his books as a young fella. Interesting that an inquisitive and creative mind was taken by Alzheimers...

The Crewe murders remain probably NZs most famous unsolved crime. There is no way now that they will be solved because of the simple fact that the NZ Police believe that Thomas got off on a technicality - that stance was made clear in all of the trials. That belief still persists to the shameful eulogy delivered by current Commissioner Bush at the funeral service of the police officer that planted the cartridge case. There is no appetite to solve these murders so they wont be solved.

So many brilliant minds are affected by Alzheimers at the end. I wonder if there is any correlation there?

Sorry to hear that you are no longer with us David. You did a great job in ur day. R I P now DAVID

The Crewe murders remain probably NZs most famous unsolved crime. There a great book about the Jennifer Beard murder from 1969 I think it was. A great read and one can only wonder how it may have turned out if Police had the technology and science that is now available.

The planted cartridge was not the only evidence that pointed to Thomas as being the killer.

Happy to blame the innocent demlars tho

The Crewe murders are likely to remain a mystery. It may be hasty to condemn DI Hutton over the planted bullet casing. It is plausible this may have been instigated at a higher level in the police command.
