Sadly, Its not just migrants that struggle. After 15 years away from NZ I came back with a tonne of experience, none of which was appreciated. The comment I got most in interviews was, Thats great, but what have you done in NZ. A really dumb comment since I had been away 15 years.I work in IT so skills are transferable.

Everyone is outraged? From a purely tactical point of view, separating parents from children and then putting those adults on trial was actually a great way to reduce the numbers coming across the border, especially those bringing families knowing that they would be treated differently. There is. real deterrent knowing that your kids will be taken away from you.Australia have adopted a somewhat similar approach which is working. Any boats full of refugees are just turned around. No assistance, No more taking them to refugee centres, just turn them around. if the boats are unsafe, they take the refugees to Nauru, not Australia. The result has been quite a reduction in the number of refugee boats.
