Lots of extreme and inaccurate rhetoric in this article. Nowhere did Don Brash say in his speech that he hates the treaty. In contrast he talks of its positives, but simply points out, in his opinion, interpretation of it has gone too far and is now holding the country back. Has this author actually read it? The Stuff series is very, very lightweight. Talking to some reputable historians should have been the first step in gaining some balance. I will also add that by resorting to personal insults, e.gold, white and not long for this earth, the author has lost her argument already.

You still dont outline the actual wider benefits. I get there are cultural benefits, but I believe most are skeptical is because its forced on them. Im still bewildered why one group of people who arrived in this beautiful country only 400 odd years before the next lot of settlers get so much say. Makes us all look pretty myopic.

You do realise that nz is predominantly occupied by Europeans dont you? ....and that Maori and other Pacific people have largely adopted christianity (probably for the worst, but thats another matter) .

Nice story. Awesome show. Dont regularly watch it, but if I stumble across it while channel surfing it always stays on to the end. Some of the episodes can be bit lifestyly and people a bit privileged, but thats NZ.

Ha gold! Such simple times to be a woman. Now theyre even expected to leave the house and, heVen forbid, financially contribute to the family coffers. They say a burden shared is a burden halved, but with the ever increasing cost of living it doesnt seem to work that way.

Written by a New Zealander who hasnt experienced much of NZ. We are much more than a few beaches, get into the alps and SI High Country and you will find a world of absolute wonder. Unfortunately, much of the recently acquired conservation land does have restricted access, only to the benefit of a handful of people.

Very well written article. Many farmers have taken the rewards of tenure review and then shut off access to the land beyond. This is obviously their intension when negotiating with the Crown as its all quite clear on the boundary maps. Lillibank st the head of Tekapo is a prime example.
