If by chance the child was pregnant and wasnt asked prior to the x-ray, there would be outrage against the hospital. Seems the hospital followed procedures. No one was injured. Whats all the fuss about.

Language, culture and race are all synonymous so why the push to make the vast majority of people people in this country something they are not. This language thing is all driven by academics who run the grievance Industry. If people want to learn te reo, great, but let us all have the right to choose our cultural norms.

We bemoan the fact that much of our raw product is exported without a valued added input.(Dairy and timber are two classics). Who in the world would want our valued added products when the importing countries with much lower wage structures can add their own value and keep prices low for their consumers.

At last I have heard truth and common sense. A very well balanced article that sets out a path for all new Zealanders just to forget what divides us and live in harmony for the future.

Spent a month in New Delhi walking around streets choked with cars, bikes and cows. When entering NZ I felt I had to declare I had been on a farm as the sacred cows and their droppings must surely present a very high risk of cattle diseases getting across our border. NZ Agriculture took me seriously and sprayed all footware but it leaves me wondering why all passengers from cow worshipping countries are not regarded as having been in contact with farm animals.

I see so many recognised nz wines carrying the very small words WINE OF AUSTRALIA. Thats good if its a red but very devious if its a sav. Aussie whites just do not cut it even with the cheapest nz ones. Are the Aust. whites being dumped here and labelled under Montana and Shingle Peak.

Lets not forget that what goes up must come down. Its the coming down bit that kills you. Just too many variables to make this form of transport both safe and reliable. Where are Martin jet packs and these car/boat things. Still at the novelty stage and likely to progress no further. (bit like electric cars too many costly limitations).

Both ACC and WINZ are open to rorts. ACC are trying to do something about it whereas WINZ even lets politicians get away with fiddling the system. Imagine if ACC had the WINZ attitude with taxpayers money. You couldnt get to the honey pot for all the bees around it.

When councils pay the living wage it reduces dependence on the social welfare system. GREAT. But in reality it makes councils into a second tier welfare organisation funded by the ratepayers who are now paying twice. Be assured the govt. wont reduce taxes but the councils will most surely increase rates.

For goodness sake whats all this about now. These people, all without exception, are now part pakeha. Are they at war within themselves over past grievances. Their pakeha part is as much to blame as anybody else so why are we bringing these issues up. Are we preparing for a third bite at the Treaty cherry? Surely not. Spend your treaty settlements wisely now and lets all be New Zealanders.

When you start out working you have choices. Why not Join the military. Free training, free uniforms and subsidised almost everything else. Greatest benefit I found was personal discipline. You learned how to achieve important goals through resourcefulness and sacrifice. Also buying a house was possible because where you were based, with few exceptions, was usually in relatively cheap house buying areas.

In New Zealand our house means everything to us and we tend to assess a persons wealth or status on a subjective appraisal of their house and suburb. I have been in the slums of India Nepal and Fiji where a lot of people have jobs but choose to live marginally and keep their wealth hidden. Money is their status not the houses or slums they live in and many inhabitants do not regard themselves as poor.

And panels have a life of around 10 years. Dumb investment. Wait till we have no gas/petrol and all transport is electric then we will be really held to ransom by the greens. No peak power facility and no future investment in hydro because we cant block off our pristine rivers. Crazy ideology.

Filling nursing vacancies is slow because it takes so long to sift through the myriad of well qualified applicants for the relatively few vacancies. Refer a previous article relating to oversubscribed health system job vacancies.

There is an old saying; If you live off the icing all you are left with is stale cake. I would suggest that they had 5 years worth of icing and now the prospects of marriage for life are somewhat unattractive.A wise decision made not to proceed with marriage but I hope any future relationship will be carefully considered and become a stable loving environment in which to bring up children. Laying the right foundation is essential for a lasting, satisfying marriage. We celebrate our 50th this month.

I always apply to see the practise nurse first as its very hard to get a doctors appointment. Nurse is very thorough and will determine if I really need to see the doctor. She writes prescriptions and doc signs them. $15 for the lot. If you ring in for a repeat script it still costs $15 without doc or nurse involvement. Still cant figure that one out. I dont have a community services card either.

Excellent work. Your children will be set on the right path for the future. With that amount of money saved by the time they are teenagers they will see that goals are obtainable with self sacrifice and money management discipline.

What a brilliant idea. We have volunteer beach wardens and volunteers hosting in hospitals and airports. I do some freedom camping in my caravan and a friendly face turning up to offer advice and keeping an eye on things would be most welcome. Overseas freedom campers would also appreciate the welcoming smile of a friemdly Kiwi host.

The system isnt right. What we have now is the accumulation 3 yearly election bribes which, once made, lock future governments into keeping them for fear of losing votes. Student loans, housing supplements, free tertiary study, working for families are all examples of bribes that are now so entrenched that no prospective gov would dare remove them. The only way to get back to reality is via world war, major depression or a complete turnaround of moral standards and values in this country. Everyone would then become responsible for their own life decisions instead of relying on their hard working and socially adjusted neighbours to compensate their screwups.

I note that many of the truly successful coaches in recent NZ rugby have not been players of renown. eg Henry, Hansen, Foster, Hart, McCloud etc. The Blues have recently had two very high profile players turned coaches. The results have been dismal. The question I ask is, are these high profile player/coaches locking their teams into a style and ethos that made THEM successful but has become outdated, predictable and past its used by date. More than anything else modern day coaches need to be able to gel a team together as a single combative force rather than replicate their own onfield prowess.

Water storage tanks means more plastic and more fossil fuel. Come on greenies sort out your ideology. Earth dams or large plastic eyesores on everyones property. Look at long term practical solutions that benefit generations to come.

Just Google the question how many litres of milk are required to make 1kg of milk solid Answer 11.5 ltrs of milk.Another factor to consider is the breed of cow it comes from.Friesian or Jersey. Suggest the milk to solid ration between the two breeds will be different.

Ultimately all CASH and TAX as we know it will be abolished. A centralised computer system will control all money movement and a tax will be imposed on all transactions both incountry and overseas. Everything will be traceable and nobody will escape paying their fair share of tax. You will pay tax when money comes in and when it goes out of your account.SOME OF THE ADVANTAGES.-Reduced money-related crime.-Reduced money laundering.-The more you have the more you pay.- The rate of tax can be instantly adjusted to meet government and social requirement. The tax working group should be carefully considering something really radical and not be shackled by political niceties. So far I see that nothing is going to change because of the fear political parties have of becoming unpopular at election time.

Performance pay? Not for this latest performance. Twenty years ago teachers were held in high regard for their professionalism. Sadly the feminists moved in and feminised the profession with their positive descrimination. This, along with the notion that there are no underperforming teachers has consigned themselves to irrelevancy in the minds of the general public.

+2−6

Am I reading something wrong here. If milk is approx 20% milk solid and 80% water how many litres of milk are required to make 1kg of solid? 12ltrs to 14 ltrs depending on the specific gravity of the milk. (cream floats remember)

Pilot with cannabis in his system crashes into mountain on approach to Taupo airport.Do we want our professionals carrying out high risk activities with drugs retained in their body. Dole queues lengthened because of failed drug tests. Alcohol is easy to test for. Drugs are not.Govt aims to be smoke free by 2025. It would be madness to then introduce a psychotic drug which further overloads our mental health system. If cannabis is legalised the next step up will be legalizing P with further progression to all drugs. Pity help my grandchildren.

Sadly the facts of the matter are two fold.1. If wages are raised artificially prices are sure to follow. As a country we are already highly expensive compared with Australia, UK and the States. It will only get worse.2. Increase our wages and our exports get a whole lot more expensive with little prospect of adding value to our raw products.
