If you accept an expensive overseas trip from a wealthy businessman you accept it with the knowledge you have to give something back. I read this article and instantly think of those Chinese water bottling companies who have set up shop in Southland and paid the local council pennies for consent to take the local water and make huge profits selling it off. Tong seems exactly the right candidate to get the ball rolling for the wealthy Chinese to come in for that sort of thing.

Have worked and managed cafes early on in my career and gratefully never had issues with mothers and their prams as they werent out in force back then. Ita a relatively new thing- actually what gets on my nerves more is when two of them insist on walking side by side with both their prams taking up the whole footpath chatting and gossiping and they refuse to move so you must walk around them! That irks me!

oh thats right there were millions at the womens march....but only a few hundred thou to see trumpo. The women must have stopped those millions of people heading to trumps inauguration and somehow hypnotised them and then placed demonstration signs in their hands against Trumps inauguration! Yes thats what happened!

Legrain says we should build 1000 homes per year just for refugees. Our country shouldnt be focused on housing refugees we have 27000 Nz born people living in Auckland alone who are homeless. There are people who can barely afford basic rent, who have to watch every penny (myself included) because rents are so high. We have to build more affordable houses for ourselves first not refugees!

had the same type of thing happen at a funeral I attended. Minister talked for 30 minutes about how his religion was founded! They come in with their own agenda thinking they need to fill time in but if I wanted to hear it I would go to a church service.

Bennett says of speaking with Bridges he certainly doesnt recall asking him (Ross) to break it up (the $100k donation). That is a red alert to me. If Bridges is not a corrupt politician should he not have said of course I didnt ask Ross to break up a $100k donation- I would NEVER ask anyone to do that it is electoral fraud!. That is what he should have said! I dont recall saying that.....is a politicians way of saying well actually I did say that but I am going to say I dont recall saying it! Guilty Bridges. Tata!

do Iranians pay world market prices for their oil...no..then why should we pay world market prices for meat!? Its ludicrous that Fonterra and these companies are allowed to get away with it!

you can only be in a green lane for less than 50 metres then you must turn off. I know this because when the T3 lanes had only been on Remuera road for a couple of mths I used the t3 lane to turn left but was in it for 90 m before I turned. $150 fine from At. The lane had only been up and running for a couple of mths and that was my first time ever using them. At didnt care wouldnt waive the fine. Revenue gathering in disguise!

If I was in his situation I would get another dna test done rather than spend $20k on lawyers? That would show they arent siblings! Oh and to his comment about his church not allowimg half siblings to marry- if they both had different maiden surnames of course the church wouldnt know they were half siblings! This just sounds weird!

omg yes! If Noelene cant turn ferns around nobody can! It wouldnt surprise me if she told the eggnogs at Nnz Kopua and Langman had to be included in her squad if she was to coach ferns! I know for a fact Kopua will train super hard to get game fit and Langman is just class through and through. I cant wait for the ferns (under Taurua) to be winning games for Nz again! Yuss!

this is so 1 when my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in Nov14 I researched it online and the entire time she was sick before she passed. Our public health is so underfunded and underesourced I was constantly frustrated on behalf of mum at the lack of available resources. We are so far behind the rest of the world with this, people die needlessly.

Taurua should have been Ferns coach before Taumanu and definitely before Southeby. Word is Netball Nz didnt want her to have complete control over the team so she said no last time around. Hopefully this time they will let her do what she needs to do to make the Ferns winners again! Shes a winning coach! Kopua is a winning player hope she comes back to international games!

what are you banging on about!? If the person had displayed the mobility card like you are all legally required to then Ms busybody would hardly need to put up a note now would she! She only did it because her own client needed the parking space and it looked as though a non mobility cardholder was parked there! What an inane comment!

Astounded him and english are praised for the great work they did on our economy....especially because it all came about as a result of disastrous huge health, education and transport cuts throughout the country which have only after the election shown to full implications of. But nobody wants to hear the 1 reality do we!

The aussies get inside the umpires heads as part of their overall strategy. Geitz used to talk to the umpires all the time for clarification but it is actually a way to get inside their heads and feed them her ideas. The problem is over time the aussies have made it more and more of an acceptable game of contact sport. If the game was played as was originally intended the Aussies would be constantly sent off court for consistently breaking the rules. Theres no doubt. The rules should be changed to reflect this.

good article, very on point! Vegans try to come across as I am so much better than you meat eaters. The ones I have seen around the place (I live in Grey Lynn- vegans galore) are prissy and walk around like they have carrots stuck up their butts. No thanks!

agreed! Thats what makes the joke actually not funny. I am atheist and have never thought to tell anyone about it as I dont see it as anyone elses business! I dont actually know another atheist so unless I am the only one around then I am pretty sure we dont go yelling it out to the world! Tryhard joke!

I have noticed that if someone is considered mean or nasty that person usually says oh all of the good stuff about me has been edited out. I dont watch this rubbish on tv so I dont know who this woman is but I think everybody knows editing is absolutely done by production to sensationalise for views. I mean who wants to watch mediocre tv when there are so many platforms out there to watch good content!

I 100 % agree with you! Would be great if businesses paid us a living wage though. Very very few do...and for the record I have worked in hospo for over 20 years and there are cafe owners who pay their staff the living wage of $20.55 per hour- cafes have very low nett profits so if they can I have to assume all other businesses can.

yes because the last lot did so well with our taxpayer money didnt they! Cuts across the board which have only recently been brought to light just how badly they let the majority of the country down. Or maybe we could let em back in so they can spend another $27m of taxpayer dollars on a new flag vote that never passed. Yes didnt they do well!
