When I was a teen only gang members and sailors had them. Now, because its trendy, loads do it, and most DO actually look awful. Idiots, not like changing your flares or mini for this years fashions....

yet people on low incomes are supposed to survive, beneficiaries survive, and they get the smartass comments. $100K? What is your problem? We live on a pension with a mortgage and survive. Not well, but we dont starve. Too many toys on tick, cars on tick, flash clothes and pure living beyond your means. Live on what you actually earn instead.

When will they learn? Todays trendy is tomorrows dated and what were they thinking?!.Dark, gloomy and like a factory floor. No thanks.

Right, and the lawn mowing? Gardening? Car maintenance, house repairs, decorating etc? Isnt that called life and chores? (I am a woman) Husband just helped to spring clean the bedrooms, I did walls and dusting while he vacuumed and moved furniture around. Oh gee, unpaid....

Miele turbo foot nz $145. Overseas $50NZ with shipping. Safety boots (brand) $80NZ, overseas $48 inc shipping. De Walt battery $120nz, overseas $40 inc shipping. Sorry its not GST. Its NZ retailers ripping us off.

You are superficial. Keep plucking, youll be bald soon.Beer bellies, caused by beer or not are a fact. My husband of 40 years has a small one, and he is 54kg, the rest of him skin and bone. We all age. But he is a lovely person, caring and helpful - round the house too....far better than a narcissistic model type.

What news does she read? Today Ive read a bout a 2yr old murdered, a young guy, murdered by another. Crashes and the endless poverty stories. The rates, petrol, whatever going up yet again, landlords moaning, people unable to rent, no-one able to afford to buy, and our shocking health system. No not the nurses crying poor, the mistakes and cover ups the DHBs do all the time.

My granddaughter is a too fat. Not really fat but more than she should be. It is the last thing Id nag her about. I do tell her, how great the strawberries, mushrooms, kumara, broccoli, corn, coleslaw etc is when she chooses these as ingredients. I tell her pies are OK too, they are, in moderation. I tell her we all need various vitamins etc but it is best from food, not bottles, and it doesnt matter which fruit and veg, we all have preferences, and dislikes. I tell her she is too pretty for makeup and its for old ladies like me to hide the ravaged bits. She now agrees and doesnt wear much. The novelty wore off, I didnt nag when it was the craze. Dont let them see you do food nonsense, or body image nonsense. They learn more by example.

My son earns over $100K. Not a Uni degree career....We are poor. he will buy our mortgage, we will move in with a relative, so he and grandchild will be far better off than we ever were. Yes housing is expensive, but I remember paying 20something % interest on the first place we bought, on one income for 5 years....we had no furniture, no TV, no washing machine, the ones these days have all the toys and cars on tick...they expect it all immediately.

So it drinks 5l and you milk the rest. That kills the justification to remove the calf. In fact the Hari Krishnas up West Auckland do exactly that, the calf is not removed and they milk. The real reason to remove the calf is profits, you get less milk if the calf gets some. You think we are all stupid?

$250 a month is not that high, my son had bills of $500 once, partner and her 3 heaters. It IS the bill payers fault, because you dont receive a paper bill is not a reason to think you now have free power and thus not be careful with your usage. Why didnt she ring them?

+20−1

$465,700, but the 2016 capital valuation CV is $200,000. latest rating bill is only $2,776, haha. If I sold here in Auckland at its market value of $560,000 (3 bdrm), and paid mortgage back I could not afford that house. And my rates here have just increased to $1637. Who are they kidding?

+22−4

Heat pumps, yes. We are moving later, to a place with a heat pump, the first thing I am doing is opening up the fireplace again and installing an inbuilt woodburner.Crippled though they are these days, it beats electricity for heating.

Just watching docos in the UK. Their coal fired power station, they add limestone to the chimney emissions (before it is emitted). Thus no acid rain and the byproduct is gypsum. That goes to the gib board factory round the corner. And the rubbish ti, the recycling they do there, themselves, not overseas. And the rest, the nappies etc they cant recycle? Into a furnace, again no emissions and they use it to power the local township....why cant we do these things in NZ? We are a joke really....

My dad had experience with hospitals from when young. When he found he had cancer, he chose to keep it to himself and the GP. He died in hospital, a cruel thing to do to him in hindsight but my mum didnt know, but he was only subject to them for a week.best to have pallative care and spend the time at home with loved ones.Id left instructions to ensure that when its my turn.

Come on, rake thin models - complain. Obese models - complain. Attractive fine looking models - still complain? Should they just pick random people off the street, get over it. Tell you what, do what I did, put a no junk mail sticker on your letterbox.

My brothers is a simple off the pole to house. He has had 3 separate appointments (scope done) for build and they have not yet turned up at all. No explanation.Mine was a drawn out disaster. One of those crude staple to fence efforts. We ended up running conduit ourselves, cutting across drive ourselves, patching after ourselves. That is the short version of the drama. Rubbish from Chorus always. Yes worth it in the end but Chorus need to up their game.

Because shes an extremist. Using a filthy jar doesnt prevent the plastic cups filling landfills. reusable condoms? uhuh, hygiene springs to mind there....and how perishable the material then becomes. But not breeding in the first place? Less humans on the planet? Oh no.Getting manufacturers to stop making everything out of plastic in the first lace? Lets see her not buy anything plastic - like her phone, her laptop, her TV, her car, her artificial material house, the list is endless. Instead of fussing about jars and such.

Cats are not stupid. And they give you exactly as much attention as you give them. Treat it like a lawn ornament and of course it will ignore you. Give them attention and they respond accordingly. Mine waited at the door and jumped up tp greet me on returning home from work. They follow us about. As for birds, my friend had pet birds, the dogs killed all of them. Her cats didnt.

Considering most people cant even budget their household, its little wonder they have no idea about business or govt. On the one hand they want nice roads, on the other the money apparently has to come out of thin air? Dont cut other govt funding to make it up - teachers, health etc...think people, the money has to come from somewhere, we dont sell much to the world other than milk, logs and sheep.

You dont need 300sqm back yard, if you have a playground thats within100m walk of your house. Uhuh.Where do you put the roses, the freesias, the vege garden? What if you dont want a playground jammed with other people, you want to sunbathe in private, your want the kids in view outside while you cook.Glad were living this rat cage hole of a place.

+14−1

I dont want to live in a nasty rat cage apartment anywhere, never mind an earthquake zone.I think people like the South Island because they can usually have big houses on big plots. And with people still waiting for rebuild, she is surprised??? It took 2 yrs for Napier and Hastings back in the 30s. 7 years on now and what?

+15−3

I dont have a problem with them. Ive had it before, in fact its saved our bacon on occasion, waiting for a payment to clear and knowing it will let me.Sure $10, but you look at the fees on the arranged overdrafts.Budgeting helps you not incur it in the first place.

+13−1

Google them, powerswitch has a ranking by customer service as well as price. Globug are the pits.pay weekly a set amount, build up your credit over summer, thus avoiding the high in winter, low in summer problem. Work out the average first, I do this with ALL the bills, rates, water, power, ph.

+12−0

If my mum can live on a single pension, why cant you? She has no mortgage, but pays rates, power, phones, net, insurance, 3rd party rubbish collection, vehicle expenses, and grocery shops a lot...not being careful with food spending. And saves $100 a fortnight. Perhaps you just want toys, and flash cars on tick and overseas holidays.Grow up. If you didnt save for the toys, live with it, its more than enough....way more than the dole or supported living payments, and those people have to pay housing costs too.

+12−1

Sorry no. No satin or silk. Ick. No throws or other unnecessary clutter. No millions of cushions and pillows.Just tidy and what you need only.

+13−2

townies are working in their clean, sanitised office jobs that would not even exist if not for farming,Oh jealous huh? What would you claim if the world was totally vegan then? Everyone would immediately be unemployed?

+12−2

Minimise air moisture by doing your laundry during the day, with the windows open. Why? Washing machine doesnt fill the house with water, driers do. Mines in the garage, and anyway, i=f fine I hang it out.Bubble wrap----no VENTILATE. If you have none at all, you get mould.Keep the doors shut, the curtains shut too when heating. Thats all you need to do.

+15−5

And when they are? My mum went after my dad died, showed her statements and bills, went along with my disabled brother who lived with them and still does. My brother on their books as a Supported Living beneficiary. They told her various incorrect things and unknown to her, over paid her pension. 3 years later she went back - against my advice - to ask for help getting the house painted. They told her she did not tell them she was sharing and thus needed to repay $3000 in pension overpayment. My brother, who went with her, sitting there with his blind cane etc...was asked if he drove my mum there. Toxic culture and no acceptance of mistakes by themselves. She now repays this mistake by WINZ. Told it is policy.

Certain people - rich men. Not the poor men, not slaves and not women. Are you serious? Many have forgotten suffrage was about being able to own property, not have the man who abandoned you, come back, help himself to any assets and money you may have scraped together and run again. It meant being able to ride a bike, which was banned before, wear knickerbockers under a skirt, abandon corsets and study at uni if they wished. Thats what it was about.

Doors, clothes and a wrecked chair.Uhuh.I got rid of lounge suite, outdoor furniture, 1/2 the kitchen ware inc appliances, side table, china cabinet, 2 single beds, double bed, couch bed, 1 bookshelf, numerous paintings and ornaments, several power tools, (duplicates), a entire working, 2 yr old PC, desk, oak wardrobe, 2 free standing cupboards, set of drawers, freezer, and some misc items.

Its not the supermarket bags (which are free in the north island btw). Its the manufacturers packaging. Look at a packet of biscuits, or milk bottles, or any thing at all you buy. Your phone, TV, carpet, the lsit of plastic goes on and on.Takeaway coffee? Never bought it in my 55 yrs.

WINZ payments are made on the basis of paperwork you take them. keep the receipts and take them with you. Of course it is retrospective. They will not accept my rates increase because despite it being online, they say it must be a bill with my name on it. So 1st July means wait till August 31. Likewise Watercare, I average out the bills and pay the same each month, to stop the low in winter high in summer (because of the vege, fruit and herb gardens) bills. But no, I must show them the bills, never mind I calculated it based on my usual usage and the new costs, and Watercare confirmed it in writing, so a year from now, they will accept it, but of course, Wtarecare will have done the next increase by then. They do it on purpose actually, in the hope you give up and go away.

been there have you? Hamilton does not snow, Dunedin does. Friend had income of $52,000, no deposit but got gifted it by parent, bought $410,000 house in Hamilton. 3 bdrm, sleepout, stand alone section. Too much nonsense about buyers in the news, these are just the ones that expect a mansion as first home. Or have too much consumer debt.

Its already on labels, so many grams per serving etc...I always read them.Jarrah for instance, which my son was going to buy: 10% coffee, 7% cocoa and 8 grams sugar per serve. Then it says add sugar , lol....so mostly its oil and powder with a bit of flavour and a heap of sugar.
