Jeebus! Dismantle the whole catastrophe, and put the previous system back! Its not rocket science, it doesnt need international experts, and it wont cost much!!!
The evidence of how god-awful this thing is can be seen every week day on Lambton Quay from 5pm onwards. On both sides of the road, all along LQ there are hundreds of people standing, waiting for buses; so many more people waiting than there ever was before. And you can see full buses rolling up, with little room for any more passengers. What occurs to me is the previous network did so much more with seemingly fewer buses, but this one can barely cope despite the insane numbers of buses and routes there now seems to be, and needs even MORE....
I live in Karori and I now drive to work because of buses not turning up, or not stopping because theyre packed. Wait for the next, exactly the same scenarios. There is only one - ONE! - school bus my WGC student can catch because thats all that there is, and when it gets here, its too full and seriously unsafe. So you can take your high and mighty, and pipe down. Your experience is most certainly not everyones.
The underlying reason why we cant go back is the fact that the previous network â“ decades old â“ was no longer up to the job.The GWRC says this but never once have they explained WHY. Clearly the brokeness of the new system throws into sharp relief that the pervious network was most certainly up to the job! So take your ridiculous hub thing, and put the network back the way it was.
The hare-brained plan is to start constructing the Karori Tunnel bus hub in late-August. Yes, thats the teeny piece of road between the tunnel and the Rigi, through which all the traffic in Wellingtons largest suburb must pass to get to Kelburn or Glenmore St. If you think were moaning now, just WAIT till that starts and youll wish you were never born.
Anyone going to take on the VUW-researched estimate of $6bn in annual corporate tax evasion? Charities like Seventh Day Adventists who pay zero tax on their massive Sanitarium profits? Anyone??
How the hell is light rail even meant to work in places like Karori, Northland, Brooklyn, Mt Vic? Answer: it isnt. So take your stupid hubs and shove them.
Chronic bus congestion on the golden mile.... have none of the GWRC seen the CURRENT chronic bus congestion on the GM? Because whatever it was before, is ten-fold worse now.
Why ask the GWRC and NZTA?? They literally havent a clue whats wrong, otherwise they would have fixed it by now!! Ask the commuters of Wellington - itll be much quicker and completely free of butt-covering PR spin.
Yes. And as Ive said before, you aint seen nuthin till the Karori hub construction starts. Largest suburb in Wellington, one tunnel-access, narrow strip of road with 4 intersecting roads, and theyre gonna shove a two-way hub on it - just waiting for the train wreck.
I doubt anyone in their right mind thinks these guys make lots of dosh! We all know its the big oil companies raking in the profits. They put the prices up real fast when theres a sniff of a change in the wholesale market, but are glacially slow to act when it goes the other way.
Unless youre Air NZ who settle just before reaching Employment Court stage, with hefty confidentiality clauses, so no-one ever knows what a truly appalling employer it is.

So why have retailers waited till the Govt moved to ban SU plastics, when they could have switched to paper/cornstarch bags at literally any time in the past? It would have been a huge point of difference for any business.
Oh cry me a river! Even with your paltry regional fuel tax, Wellington and the SI are STILL paying more than you! Its not about tax. Its about the rigged pricing structure of the oil companies - Z Energys CEO ADMITTED that cheap fuel in Auckland is paid for by everyone else!
And you call this journalism.... Ripping comments from social media and working them up into some click-bait non-story for the outrage, without a byline, is not journalism. Its lazy and dishonest. Be better.
There are, actually. You structure your mortgage: get three loans: two are low-rate fixed for, say, 2 years, and one is floating. You pay the fixed loans in the usual way. The floating mortgage, which has no early payment restriction, you hammer that with all the extra you can find and pay it off as quickly as you can. We blew off a substantial amount doing this, so when the 2-year fixed loans were up for renewal, we divvied the amount up again, and started over, with a much lower overall figure. Not many bank managers tell you this, because theyre only interested in making as much off you as possible. But TSB Wellingtons manager was very free with this info, because its in our best interest, and happy customers keep coming back.
Its a shame that a once-awesome foodie festival has come down to a burger contest. I mean, burgers.... really?
