This is what you get with a coalition of losing parties - chaos and unnecessary cost. I am certainly not a National party fan, but these other clowns are really starting to hurt us now.
just another disappointment from this shameful labour led col
Its a botch up big time and unprofessional of this government.
Maaate, it looks very much like you got into the job through some backdoor shenanigans. Add to that the number various experts in the tech world who expressed a collective opinion your appointment was a complete joke because of your lack of expertise. Now do you really want to keep playing the confused victim?
I wish I could have the misfortune to be paid over $100k for missing out on a job.....
$100K + $7.5K costs ...... Just imagine if every small (or large) business in NZ ran their recruitment like this, theyd all be broke and need bailing out by the government..... oh wait, we the taxpayer are the government and, yet again we the taxpayer are lumped with a substantial waste of OUR money through THEIR incompetence.
What a mess. Either way Im not convinced we need a CTO although more flexible education to get people into technology would be prudent. One issue is a lot of the people getting into tech have learned the skills off their own backs rather than formally but that may not always be possible.
Good, because why on earth do we need more overpaid senior civil servants...
Just another shambles!
The tech industry was in an uproar over his appointment. A CTO position in the government should go to someone actually deeply technical and/or scientifically trained.
No surprise here
It could be said that the PM had a larger role in this saga than CC, either way DH cosied up to the hierarchy.
Curran and Ardern have form - threw Carol Hirschfeld under the bus. Theyre trying to do the same with Derek Handley, but good on him - this one is not going to go away, the truth will out and New Zealanders will find out that the PM did indeed set out to deliberately mislead us.
Very unprofessional. Action taken on the minister involved was right.
Of course Mr Handley will be disappointed with the final outcome as he had the inside Labour contacts - Curran and Ardern who had written for him a personal job description that guaranteed him only the highly paid Govt position and also that no one else would get a look in even if you were Einstein himself. Then only because this lot were found out - they fired him and then paid him $107,000 of our hard earned taxpayers money. So much for we are an open and transparent Govt from two face Ardern.
Its almost as if Handley was expecting this inept government to be transparent and competant in their jobs. Sorry Mr Handley, youve just been shafted by incompetence.
Derek and Jacinda now not so much bestees. I guess those other opportunities our PM was looking for on his behalf will have dried up too, now the texts are public, and the public appeal made.Itll have to be a private sector, non lobbying job for Mr Handley now.
Your not allowed to say labour led
Unfortunately, New Zealand has been plagued by MPs elevated well above their capabilities. Clare Curran, Jonathan Coleman, Hekia Parata...
Of course Ardern stayed out. Nothing negative allowed in Pollyannas world
