Can Lester maybe work on cheaper fuel to Wellington first before any taxes! We do have a fuel port- Seaview, that the last time I looked took fuel tankers!!!!Stop driving fuel trucks down the main highway.

Considering we are already effectively paying for the Auckland RFT down here in Wellington courtesy of the oil companies, this is great news.

LOL what a joke! Im in CHCH and our fuel is the same price if not more than Akld..and thats with them having a fuel tax. The GOVT makes itself look good by saying they wont apply it anywhere else but the thing is they already have! They just havent formally titled it. Srsly the GOVT think the public are raging thick idiots, but on that, maybe a lot are >_

So no discussions have been had! yet in the next sentence Lester and other Wellington mayors went to Twyford in May eager to discuss a regional fuel tax among options to fund transport projects including regional rail and light rail. Justin can we trust a word that comes out of your mouth!!! and no I dont have portfolios you can take off me for speaking out.....

Regional fuel taxes need to be nipped in the bud & quick.All the under performing & overbloated Councils should be told in no uncertain terms by central government to start performing more efficiently rather than trying to suck more income from the already overburdened tax & ratepayer!!!

Our entire country is governed by one set of laws so it doesnt matter where you set a fuel tax, it impacts knows no boundaries. If the prices increase in Auckland, there is no barrier or restriction for the price to increase in Hamilton, at which point the price increases would simply spread south. All this regional tax has done is given the petrol companies a perfect excuse to increase prices.

If you think these fuel taxes are regional I have a bridge to sell you. We all pay and the more regions that add their own tax we all pay more.

Except if you actually heard Twyford speak he said there is no fuel tax being discussed for THIS TERM So do you get the fork tongue message. Something this MP is very good at.

And yet we still pay more than Auckland drivers in most parts of the south.

How can jacinder confidently claim no new regional fuel taxes when it was her who introduced the first tax. Jacinder is so disconnected from working class New Zealanders and she has implemented policies that have increased New Zealands already high inequality. no more regional fuel taxes is not a political saving grace. it is a sham that is total lies and hypocritically stated from the same party and leader who has placed higher taxes and cost onto the middle class.

So no new regional fuel taxes but in one form or another Lester will get his money to set up his light rail absurdity planned for Wellington. So what are they going to call it, a rate hike, a levy, a gift from God, a Koha from the Wellington community folk? Will be interested to see exactly what commitments the Wellington Regional jesters have towards getting the regions diabolical roading sorted, not just talk but actual progress.. The last time any major works were undertaken in Wellington, Transmission Gully excluded, was back in the late 60s with construction of the existing motorway, no wonder infrastructure is bordering on 3rd world and not coping with regional growth. But they find money for working groups and Islands in the Pacific, go figure.
