while motor vehicle claims had an approval rate of 98.7 per cent for males and 98.4 per cent for females. That means women are almost 20 per cent more likely than men to have a vehicle-related claim turned down.Dont you just love how you can use statistics and the English language to turn 0.3% in to 20%?

The part of the article that struck a chord with me, was .......He has a particular world view, its white, old and hopefully nearing its use-by date ... That really sums it up.Correct, it really does sum it up. The author of THIS article is racist because she is dismissing Don Brashs views because of his race.

Probably because at least half of the names theyre being changed to were not original Maori names. Do you seriously think that 100,000 - 200,000 pre-colonisation Maori that did not even have horses or written maps, could possibly traverse so much of the country that they had names for every landmark? A lot of the Colonial names probably pre-date the Maori names theyre being changed to.

Do you crack down on cars to combat problem driving? No, you address the problem driving. It could also look at reducing off-licensed operating hours and late-night transport options.Seriously??? Just when you think wowsers couldnt get any more illogical one of them suggests reducing late night transport options to REDUCE alcohol harm.... Wow, just wow.

This is a perfect illustration of how the traffic jams start in Auckland. If youre driving at the start of rush hour quite happily at 100km/h you will inevitably come across some oblivious/inconsiderate driver doing 80km/h or slower in the right hand lane with no-one at all in front of them and suddenly this exact effect happens with cars all starting to backup behind them with a ripple effect that gets worse and worse. The police need to do a better job of policing slow drivers, it would solve so many of our traffic problems.

but they fall short of hate speech, unless that definition has widened to merely include offence or outdated ideas. Its been widened to anything those on the left dont agree with by the autocrats hiding behind a facade of liberalism within their ranks. It really is a shame our political system groups liberals with autocrats and libertarians with conservatives.

Driving at the very start of rush hour is eye opening, plenty of people from the Traffic Enforcement Unit driving at 80 or even slower in the right hand lane with no-one in front of them and traffic building up behind them and/or undertaking them. Presumably because they think thats just the speed you should do in rush hour.

The biggest problem drinkers are always the one that were sheltered from it until the day they turned 18 (or 20), we all know this, weve all seen it, it cant be denied. This fresh evidence has no doubt been dug up by wowsers like Dr Wills looking only for evidence to reaffirm their beliefs while theyve ignored any evidence to the contrary. Objective science it is not.

Im surprised hes not doing more shows, given how long its been since he was here I wouldve thought you could add sold out Auckland and Wellington shows to that easily. The Mission Estate will sell out in seconds.

Ridiculous idea. Most negative reviews would be one of 3 things: - People that think they know better than their doctor because they googled their symptoms- People blaming their doctor for diagnosing a major health problem- People upset they were prescribed conventional medicine/therapy and not some alternative medicine/therapy

Imagine if two people were given the same amount of money to do what they liked with. One person worked hard, invested in an education and studied, sacrificed their social life had respectful habits in not drinking or smoking or over eating and was rewarded with a high paying job that they pay lots of tax on.The other person invested that money in a property portfolio that theyve continuously leveraged as the market has increased and they are now have the same wealth as the person with a high paying job but theyve paid no tax.Yep thats fair.

Haha yep especially when they try to use that the results tally with what hes told by frontline workers. as proof that its accurate. Frontline sallies dont visit those who arent struggling. Its like saying absolutely everyone shops at my shop because thats what a survey of my customers said.

Very generous for Kata, his errors led to the first 3 Panthers tries, and harsh for Johnson who still tried hard and committed no errors unlike the rest of the team.Jazz Tevaga: Massive effort from Mannerings presumed successor LOLWUT?

Folks, New Zealand has a drinking problem that is not prevalent in other parts of the world.Myth. Check the stats. Were 31st in per capita alcohol consumption, even South Koreans drink more than we do.Australia has even harsher liquor laws than we do yet they consume 10% more than us.

Only because overseas tax systems are mostly far more complicated than ours due to political compromises. If we implemented a simple CGT much like our simple GST it would not be difficult to implement at all. The only problem being that Labour are the only major political party that seem to be entertaining the idea at the moment but theyre also the party that is most likely to implement it with all sorts of ridiculous bureaucratic loopholes and exemptions.

And what percentage of Kiwis drink? If 25% of Kiwis are drinking on a Friday night then youd expect 25% of patients in an A&E on a Friday night to have alcohol in their system. Thats how statistics work and thats why you have to say related to alcohol consumption instead of caused by alcohol consumption in your attempts to exaggerate the negative effects of alcohol.

I live closer to Mt Smart than Eden Park and still prefer the location of Eden Park as it closer to a train station than Mt Smart and also close to quite a few bars in Kingsland, Dominion Rd and Mt Eden. Closest half decent bars to Mt Smart are in Onehunga or at Sylvia Park, only walking distance for the well and truly committed.

Neither mainstream Aussie party will fully give in to the Greens demands so theyve ended up with what were eventually going to get: Both parties proposing reasonable progressive mainstream policies that theyll oppose if the other party proposed and both shot down by the Greens for not being progressive enough

Correlation does not equal causation does it? I drink and dont drink and drive and have never self harmed which is the same for the vast majority of drinkers, therefore drinking does not CAUSE drink driving or self harm. I can sense your rebuttal: every drink driver has consumed alcohol. But guess what? every drink driver also owns a car so if drinking causes drink driving then owning a car also causes drink driving.

The type where Id slow down to try to force them to back off, and theyd slow down and stay exactly as close as before. So Id slow down again, and they still wouldnt back off. So Id do it again ... and again ... eventually its just the two of us crawling along being outstripped by passing grannies. That right there is why you were being tailgated, not your choice of car, youre clearly a driver that does not move out of the right-hand lane. The only reason people dont tailgate you in an SUV is because they cant see past you to see that the lane in front of you is clear.

A lot of it would come down to the size that supermarkets sell ingredients in being far more cost efficient for large families, a lot of the time shopping for two you have to buy ingredients that would be enough for four or more and when there are appropriate sizes theyre often more expensive per quantity.

People are also getting increasingly annoyed at being told we cant do things we enjoy that are very marginally bad for our health. Oh noes, my risk of cancer is 0.0001% higher, better stop doing that.I do not want to live in a Demolition Man style dystopia which is where were heading.

Oh, the random spike out of nowhere at the exact same time as the limit got lowered was coincidence was it?We suddenly got sped more after 2014?We suddenly got more distracted after 2014?We suddenly cared less about other road users after 2014?There was only one thing that changed.Besides, do you have any proof other than correlation about those things causing an increase in the road toll? A study perhaps? Like the one quoted above...

Its 1 that big cities elsewhere in the world have imposed very low speed limits. But the majority are town centres with narrow roads and challenging layouts, because they pre-date the invention of cars.Shhhh the cycle zealots dont want it known that you cant compare Auckland to flat and compact European cities.

Heres a few downtown Auckland buildings that start below sea level and past the original shore-line: Britomart Train Station, the Old Ferry Building, the PWC building, the AMP building, the Vero building, the HSBC building, the new Commercial Bay development.

There may be adverse community reactions to, or low engagement with, projects such as speed limit reductions, speed-calming measures and removing parking.Theyre already wasting heaps of money on speed-calming measures but its clearly not working is it! Whats actually needed is enforcement to stop bad driving behaviour, how about spending a fraction of that money on actually getting the few red-light cameras we have working again and then actually increase their number?I suppose we shouldnt really expect any more from politicians whose answer to abuse of anything is to restrict access and use instead of directly combating the abuse.

NZ First: dont we have more urgent items to address then supporiting the over-consumption of alcohol in New Zealand?A more urgent item like lowering our road toll? Which this will do as its clearly demonstrated above that lowering the limit has unintentionally increased our road toll.As with every anti-alcohol law that punishes the majority instead of targeting the problems it has backfired spectacularly.

Super is going to be completely unaffordable for the country very soon as it is now, if it hadnt been cut back 30 years ago it would be being cut back now or wed be bankrupt. Speaking of those 30 years, did you not think to start saving back then or since?
