If female athletes want to make more money then simply they have to attract bigger crowds/customers.You cant be expected be paid more just because of your gender you have to create a value proposotion.

There are no women because they dont generate spectators , paytv subscriptions and dont get young women to wear their names on the back of replica sports shirts.

I guess you have to remember that the females are segregated from the males in all the mentioned sports. I do not see men and women playing in the same teams at the highest levels of these sports. This is apparently because the men are superior at playing those sports. Therefore, surely the men deserve the higher salaries - why should it be regarded as unfair that they are better rewarded for higher performance? These are all professional athletes; in other words, it is their job. In no other occupation do we have an enforced segregation according to sex because one of the sexes is better than the other at something. So, women, please stop moaning about pay disparities in professional sport OR start competing against the men; you cant have it both ways.

The womens rugby team wouldn't beat the NZ under 16 boys team. Why do they deserve more money than them? Or media coverage for that matter? You cant have it both ways. That's discrimination isn't it?

Why raise the female non issue? how many people watch NBA compared to WNBA? lets be honest no one cares about it in comparison so the money will never be there. its a market thing not a gender pay issue.If you had millions of people watching womans sports then they would easily be able to demand the pay they want.

Why oh why do we always have this women issue, NZ is over it. Pity more women in NZ couldnt play tennis above the beginner level, if they could maybe they would make the list.

Where are the females? What? Where are the rugby players? Or the Frisbee Golf players?Only a handful of sports and national leagues command ridiculous salaries. If people were interested in womens sport, the money would soon come flowing in. But theyre not (not even most women!)

The Australian womans soccer team, the Matildas who were once ranked fifth in the world, lost 7-0 to an under 15 boys local soccer team at Newcastle a couple of years ago!

Because people don't watch female sport. Serena Williams will be back on there next year because people watch her but outside of women's tennis women's sport isn't watched like men's sport. I know it's not PC but it's an inferior product, women don't throw, run, hit etc like men it's that simple

Watching womens sports are like watching snails race the 110m hurdlesAnd they want equal pay with probable 2% of the viewership of men's sport?I don't play any professional sport, I must be entitled to the same money too, otherwise you're just an employephobic bigot!!!

I too am surprised that none of the females competing with men in boxing, MMA, NBA, NFL, Major League Baseball made the top 100.

Or play against the men in the mens comps.

Seriously who watches netball except Mum, Dad and nana of players.

I'm not in the top 100 earners for my profession in NZ. The reason being I'm not good enough.

And women don't attend sport like men do. Go to men's cricket, rugby, basketball, football, league etc and look at the crowds, males would make up 75% plus of a full stadium. Now look at the women's game equivalents.

So its performance based pay then? Nothing to see here in terms of any gender issue. Move on.

Half the reason NBA stars are paid so much is there are fewer players on a basketball team than all the other major team sports, they get a bigger share of the pie.

I am guessing by the many comments below, that people are getting sick and tired of there being comments like this The list does highlight the huge disparity between male and female athletes as there is not a single woman among the top 100.Its almost if the first thing media does today, is go through a checklist, to see if they can work equal rights into an article or discrimination but fail to actually mention the obvious reasons why, there are obvious differences.Most sport is a business, if something is doing well, then players can command a bigger slice of the profits. You cant command a bigger slice, if you arent pulling in the money.

Id like to see mixed golf tournaments. Get Lydia Ko in matchplay against Rory McIlroy.
