Liquid gold and weve given it away. The rest of the world must be laughing at our naivity. Should have been a national asset for Nzlanders from the start. Id have charged exuberant prices and limited export supples to push tbe price up That would have covered off some health, education and housing costs. Instead we gave away our best natural asset. Hindsight classes for fools coming this way soon. We need to get out of that contract asap.

âThere is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.❠Oscar Wilde. Maybe Ms du Plessiss opinions have served their purpose.

I have already paid out to help my children get an education and onto the housing ladder (told them they had their inheritance early) so Im going to make darn sure I spend whats left! In any case I am sure the wealthy will find ways of hiding money in Trusts or businesses, so it will just be yet another tax for the middling majority. Is that what the voters want???

Afger eorking for 20 years in MH my suggestion is even if you are going privately ensure you manage your own expectations, nothing is going to be fixed in a single session, there is no magic wand - so you are probably going to need to schedule time for a series of visits. If you are feeling so debilitated you want to die/not exist it is really important you respect your problem at least as seriously as if you have a broken leg, ie dont go to work - prioritise your health, dont expect mental health services to fit around your work life, they just dont - Drs need time off too. Talk to your GP about medication options, if you donf qualify for talk therapy go online and help through CCI in Perth, they produce a great web resource page with CBT workbooks for self directed CBT- good place to start if you cant see a psychologist quickly- covers all sorts of issues and its free! Good luck, keep safe, it will get better.

A 40% capital gains rate would shake things up, and might discourage the travesty of ghost houses too. Maybe govt can back date it to link to offshore investor purchases over last 5 years. There may not be that many so would be a good primlinary exercise to explore. Next stop non-citizens!

Maybe they are not people who are Maori performing a traditional Maori dance, so if they are simply dancers performing a Maori dance and they wouldnt necessarily know the error being made. I dont suppose all Irish dancers are Irish, or Scottish dancers are Scottish, or tap dancers are taps. The really good thing to come out of this is a few more people have had a geography lesson.

Thank you for writing this article. I have worked with people with eating issues for many years, and it is often quickly apparent (to me) when the problem is more than anxiety. One of the most challenging tasks I have is discussing the features and facts about this particular presentation of an eating disorder to parents who are worried about the stigma of their child having an eating disorder. In those cases I think the parent may be feeling either scared or ashamed, and either doesnt listen properly or filters what is being said. I usually refer the parents to EDANZ where they can hear the message again, but from other parents. The problem of ARFED seems to increasing in prevalence, it is being picked up by school counsellors who are doing great job of recognising when things are not right. In the last 10 weeks have spoken with two families of schoolchildren about this concern, both with significantly underweight children. In both cases it has been an uphill battle to get them to take their child for a specialist assessment with the South Island Eating Disorders Team (who provide an excellent service). I advise anyone who is worried about their child to request a referral for a specialist team assessment, so you can either get the help you need, or rule the diagnosis out.

My strategy is to do everything I can to avoid going to hospital, (its a thirty year plan I am in my fifties now). So I mainly eat nutritious food (lots of veggies and fruit/fibre, protein, some calcium) try to get enough sleep, do some huff n puff and strength exercises each week, I and dont go to work if I am ill- last thing we need is an epidemic. This is my health insurance ask I dont fancy being at the back of a 300 patient queue, unless its for the morgue! Gotta look after yourselves folks, it takes a long time to build hospitals and train staff.

Agile sounds like a crisis management strategy, perfect for the gig economy, and people who like to fly-in fly-out of a project. Perhaps not so useful for creating a sense of long term employee ownership, loyalty or commitment to either a project or an employer.

My experience and observation is that there is definitely an unspoken hierarchy for filling job vacancies, it goes like this: Homegrown NZer, Brit, American/Canadian (or possible the other way around), Australia, all others. This is an ugly truth, and probably generations of legislation away from shifting attitudes in any real sense, but it helps manage your expectations if you are told about it early on in the scheme of things - just remember its not personal. On the bright side, life is much safer and you can create opportunities to do your own thing, so all in all, as a wings-clipped-tall-poppy-immigrant, I am very grateful and happy to be here, contributing as best I can.

No more Tegel for me, decision made, withdrawing my custom from farmers and businesses who think is the best way they can earn a living - shame on them.

Ok, I hate purchase taxes, but I hate the threat of a wrecked homeland environment even more; if central government (dept of environment) decided to set up, run, maintain and regulate the facilities that can deal with tyres and batteries, and if people knew they had pre-paid for recycling management, there might be less dumping. Too many ifs?...

I agree chickens didnt used to be intensively farmed in overcrowded barns and the price reflected the rarity value, nowadays they are churned out due to intensive farming. Ever wonder how they get fertilised to produce that many chicks?

A 60m apartment for $375k, hmm. A young singleton needs $75k for a 20% deposit and to be able to pay off a $300 mortgage, plus insurance, body corp, rates, before they can even afford to switch the lights on - probably not on a junior nurses salary. A single middle aged divorcee with a decent settlement, and moving up the career ladder, maybe, as long as they dont need a car in the garage to drive and visit the kids. As an oldie - well as one half of a boomer couple, I personally dont think this is a good investment other than as an Air BnB, which would be ok but is a long shot with the pace of recovery in the city. Foreign investors? now youre talking, the future of Christchurch (soon to be known as Auckland of the south).

Cafes in office blocks seems a good idea - they used to be called work canteens back in the day - somewhere to eat away from your desk has got be good for you. Though it does sometimes look like our city centres are turning into giant food courts :-)

Blue water is the commodity of the near future, China have already taken advantage of our commercial naivity in this area. We need to cancel that breached contract in Christchurch before its too late to manage our aquifers. Could the Maori representatives in charge of water guardianship also speak up and use their assinged roles to bring political pressure to this, please. Time to make some noise

An Occupational Therapist (not psychologist) is specifically trained, experienced and uniquely qualified to carry out Activity Analysis - this process informs recommendations on how to marry a persons capabilities, performance strengths and skills training potential (i.e.their functional performance profile) with a just-right level of job challenge (good stress) to create a win-win for employers and employees. OTs are a much underestimated but valuable resource- use them or lose them!

Kia Ora - hi, the English language has always embraced and absorbed words and phrases from many other languages, it keeps the spoken word dynamic and reflects evolving communities. If you can speak pure Te Reo tats great, but why not try a few baby steps, you might have fun :). Nga mihi - greetings.

Have to say I expected demand might fall after those 1ly horrific pictures of a chicken farm/factory that were in the news earlier this week. Buy less, and buy better cared for (Bostocks) is my plan.
