Water will become such a precious commodity in years to come, NZ should be thinking about the money it could make from it. NZ could become a very wealthy nation just like those have who have provided oil to the world.
Perhaps instead of selling our water for a pittance to the Chinese, we should be doing a swap with Dubai. Oil for Water...win win.In the end, water will always be needed, oil, not so much. The government better be working on making money out of our water, instead of allowing things to continue as they were under the last government. The company in Chch wont hire kiwi labour, they will advise that no one suitable is available, then bring in more low paid chinese workers, who eventually end up on our unemployment line and super.
Much easier way. Just come to New Zealand and help yourself to the cleanest water in the world. Yes, we are that stupid.

Population growing at enormously unsustainable rate. Solution ... bring icebergs in to ensure they all have enough to drink and just keep the population getting bigger. What could possibly go wrong? Will we ever seriously have a conversation about starting to limit the number of humans on this planet? No, we will just keep destroying our beautiful home until its natural resources are completely gone and vast areas will be uninhabitable. You think mass immigration is happening now? Just wait a while

While both oil and water are pumped from the earth water is more precious to life that oil but our governments give water away to countries that charge us for their oil.
