GWRC Metlink etc dont seem to comprehend that having to catch more than one bus is inconvenient and a reduced service when you had a direct service previously. Anyway you get charged within zones and its a free transfer between busses if you do so within 30mins of each bus. I wonder what happens if you are transferring and the other bus is diabolically late...
Sorry but none of the bus hubs work because we dont have the infrastructure to make it work. Bus hubbing adds at least 20minutes more to a 30min off peak trip to Churton Park for example. Thats unacceptable.
This is karma coming back at you Tranzit, GWRC etc. How could you not see that paying peanuts and expecting people to take longer shifts would result in people not wanting to take up the job? Bunch of amateurs.
The upcoming changes are nothing short of a joke. A large number of commuters will have to catch more than one bus to get to their destinations whereas currently they have a direct bus, resulting in greater inconvenience and more time spent on travelling. The pathetic bus hubs will offer no shelter to the wind and rain, especially in winter. Congestion is just going to get worse with these ill planned changes.
7:15am 19e at Erlestoke went all the way to the end of the street which is a dead end so the bus driver had to reverse right out. Weve hopped back in the car because the services are so unreliable and at times dont turn up at all. I get a feeling that the strategy is to get everyone back into cars and then hit us all with a city congestion charge.
Its actually longer than 5 minutes if you look up Google Maps. Id check your facts before you offer it. You cant inconvenience people too much otherwise people will just hop back in the car and increase congestion.
Should just go back to the way things were. Keep snapper though those slow Mana bus machines dont need to come back. Also ban cars from the Golden mile during peak hours that should help ease congestion there.
A fail for me this morning. 6.55am 19e bus was 12 minutes late but hey at least the bus turned up. Looks like the number 1 wasnt turning up judging from comments from commuters that were trying to get that bus. It was obvious there was a lack or complete absence of training because the driver had an assistant telling him where to go/what lane to get in etc. This probably explains why the bus was late. Also why on earth is there not a single stop between the railway station and Brandon Street? Absolutely no consideration given to those who normally caught the bus stops between the two streets previously and those commuters were far from happy. Absolute shambles.
Can the Churton Park buses get put back to the way it was. Thanks. While youre at it why dont you consider banning cars from the golden mile in peak hours to try and ease congestion through Courtenay, Willis, Lambton Etc
You can go to the Mana Coach Services website and they have a link for smart card refunds. It takes you to a form that you can fill out and send that with your smart card in order to get your money back plus the $10 deposit.
The upcoming bus network changes is rather farcical. Quite a few people are still unaware of the changes that will impact them and 15 July is only a couple weeks away. For the record I will be catching the car thanks to the downgrade in service - Catching 2 buses rather than a single direct bus, only having service during peak hours rather than regular times all week as present. Those pathetic bus hubs will offer minimal shelter from the wind and rain at best. These moronic changes will not encourage a greater uptake in public transport and will only result in more gridlock. Well done GWRC youve done a fantastic job.
I personally do not rely on walking from my bus stop to work to get in my exercise. The point is that the changes (e.g. increased walking times/bus changes are making people spend more of their personal time commuting and that is definitely not an improvement. Id rather spend that additional time I now have to waste on the bus with my family etc. The changes certainly do not represent an easy public transport system that Metlink etc claim that it is.
There needs to be a point where compromise has to be met. There is only so much to go round. and there are other professions who are just as deserving of a long overdue rise in pay. If no compromise is made the only way to be able to put forward more money is to collect more tax. As a middle class citizen that is already finding it tough just to meet basic costs that are always on the increase e.g rates, insurance, mortage and food I am most certainly against paying more tax.
Rating system is absolutely broken. The never ending increases are unsustainable as people dont get the corresponding increases in salary. Focus ought to be on core infrastructure. If there isnt enough money in my budget I have to cut my spending. The councils should be doing the same rather than asking for yet another handout.
There's nothing simple about having to catch more than one bus when you didn't have to previously. Also a lot of routes have changed to those pathetic extension routes that in effect are at reduced frequencies and not running at all during evenings.
54 route is another example where those not on the main spine only get peak hour services at reduced frequency of every 20 mins rather than every 10 minutes. Outside peak we will have to catch more than one bus to get to town. Also we don't get a service after 7pm like we do now. Sounds like many others are similarly affected by a clear reduction in service.
Politicians are experts at fudging the numbers. Judging from the vast number of unhappy commuters it's a safe to say much more than 5% have to change buses.
Thanks Chris for your contribution to a successful tenure and delivery of a maiden championship that ended 20 years of pain. All the best for your future endeavours.

Would have been more beneficial to put a bus lane through Jville as everyday is a slow crawl but hey apparent cyclists are higher priority.

Another rate for Aucklanders?: Mayor Phil Goff's top finance man floats targeted rate to bury power lines
I think the funding should come from the Auckland region so targeted rate sounds fair. A non Aucklander.
