This highlights the fallacy of the current Govt making the first year of tertiary study fee free.It would make sense to make the degree year fee free.I am told that significant number of students drop out in the latter years because of the cost or the realisation that they are following the wrong career path. The first year free should be seen for what it is, an election bribe aimed at first time voters.
If this happened in the Private Sector heads would have rolled. Saying the unit was under resourced is just a nonsense. Staff reporting to the head of three waters apparently knew of the problem in May. 7 months later the CEO was told a day before xmas and the councillors almost a month later.Where was the leadership, was there another agender at play relating to chlorination. Why are these highly paid officials still employed?
I think in this case it was those reporting to the three waters manager rather than the councillors.Saying they were under resourced is just so much bluster. Apparently the maintenance of the well heads was outsourced to a non council body.Did the three water manager check to see that his staff were monitoring the provider. Where was his leadership?
I get annoyed by the blatant ageism in this post.Add to that my frustration that all these old people are white. Such generalisations are narrow minded at best and offensive.
Having Dutton as leader of the Libs is a sure way to see Labor back in power. We would then at least have a chance to persuade them to change their stance toward Kiwis.
Jones should talk. Along with his leader Peters and Jackson they are disruptive masters of obfuscation and the non answer answers. It is a shambles. Watched Parliament today. Two others that acted like smug grinners were the Ministers of Housing and Education. Chris Hipkins is meant to be the leader of the house for goodness sake.I thought Bennetts walk out did her no good at all and she should have toughed it out. The best performers in the house are Adern and Parker followed by Brownlee. I enjoy the tussle he cant win with the Speaker but makes some valid procedural points.

Hamilton high school principal's tough message to students
What a good person. Hopefully her students have listened well as it will put them in good staid. Hard, blunt with no sugar coating. well spoken.
"A bad taste: council may not have approved chlorination if told of well problems earlier",

Rubbish. It is Defence Force land and they (whoever they are) should not have been there.

They say the buck stops at the head of the tree. Perhaps with the three waters manager or his boss.
