This reminds me of the Wellington Lux Light Festival, real cool stuff and highly successful, they run it from 6pm to 10pm daily for 2 weeks and as crowds have been growing throughout the years its spread from the waterfront to the southern side of the CBD. Implementing later end times and spreading it out can also help here.
Wellington is one of the best cities in New Zealand and has always been underrated. I also like Auckland, both cities make top 5 but Christchurch doesnt make top 20 says it all really.
Optimism is definitely on the rise but to be on the same level as Auckland and Wellington no way! not even after 10, 15, 20 years. There isnt even a single high rise apartment building in the Christchurch.
