I stood on a hilltop in Cincinnati nearly 30 years ago and looked out upon row upon row of deserted derelict factories which seemed to stretch for miles, as far as the eye could see. Westinghouse, General Electric, Pratt and Whitney, Procter and Gamble, the list went on and on. As far as I can recall, the list rattled out from my host seemed encompass most of the big names of American industry. All of these companies still exist in America. Only the jobs have gone. The Americans have been doing this to themselves for decades. It is facile and fatuous to blame this on Mexico or China or anyone but America. American Boardrooms emptied these factories. Nobody else.

As a long term (ex) landlord, with some landlord friends still in the game, I can report that long term wealth and peace of mind comes from treating every tenant as a friend, catering to their every (reasonable) need, and being ahead of the game when it comes to keeping your rental in tip top condition. What goes around, comes around. If your rental is a tip, you are inviting rats to become your tenants, and they may or may not pay their rent. I for one, would not blame them if they didnt.I fully support the new initiatives to improve tenants rights and enforce enhanced accommodation standards. They are only just catching up with my own self imposed standards as a landlord.

I cant but a house or a flat in China. Unless I bribe somebody. In fact there are lots of countries where I cant buy property. This isnt a China issue. It is an issue of preventing thoughtless, greedy, speculation in one of lifes necessities - four walls and a roof.

Greed is good. The select few now own just about everything. If less than 1% of the worlds population now own in excess of 99% of everything then what could possibly be wrong with this picture? Heck, they even own the picture, the frame and the hook in the wall. Rich listers think that they should also own the politicians. All of them, not just some of them. No limits? That just means I want more. And that wont be enough. I want it ALL.

I read (and listen to) media from many countries around the world. Some of these are even in English. But dont let that stop you reading other media in French or Italian or Russian or any other language you can understand. I can report that a dispassionate widely read multi lingual observer would find very little positive news in any of these disparate sources about the great sainted one.Clearly there are only two possible conclusions:1. ALL of the worlds media are completely biased against the Greatest Ever President of ALL TIME anywhere.2. Apart from the poor deluded fools that think El Trumpo should be dictator for life (Fox, Breitbart, et al) there is nothing, absolutely nothing, positive to say about the Moron-in-Chief.Those with brains may be able to solve this conundrum. Those incapable of coming to the correct conclusion should continue with their use of mind altering substances. No further damage will result.

I use the occasional Te Reo phrase. Every other day. Part of being a kiwi. What I object to is the invention of new Maori words which are often little more than alliterations of English words. Maori never had a word for week so where did wiki come from? Heaps of other examples. Crazy and inexcusable. The epitome of social engineering. Cultural imperialism at its worst.

Once again Saint Donald the Duplicitous stands before the people of the world showing himself to be the most deluded president ever. His despicable contempt for the rule of law, for truth, for the US Constitution are quite simply despicable and contemptible. And the US Congress are complicit in this. In the name of democracy the people of the US need to act at the mid terms. If they dont, they give the lie to everything Lincoln said at Gettysburg. The US experiment with their version of democracy will indeed have been in vain.

A thinking person not knowing the meaning of trivial could have had a stab at its meaning from the JC quote. The opposite of importance? Oh wait. Thats a big word too? Dang. The JC quote is of course an early realisation of the so-called butterfly effect. I have my own version. A little bit of dumbing down goes a long way towards creating a nation of morons.

When you look at those comments below decrying yet another anti trump story, it is strange to observe that whatever media sources one follows, in country after country, where there is any vestige of a free press, there is an overwhelming view that trump is a moron, a negative influence, an egotistical maniac and much more besides. Yet the one exception is the US itself, where a small section of the media are slavishly fawning over the great sainted one, and are calling all other media sources fake. An independent observer might be tempted to conclude that at least some of these media sources in many many countries are completely deluded? Which ones I wonder? (Spoiler alert. Rhetorical wonderment.)Astute readers may have noted that I have not used uppercase t in places where convention would normally dictate that the lowercase t was inappropriate. This is 1. From now on I will henceforth refer to the inappropriate president as trump.

My fellow Americans. In this hour of need when many of you have lost your homes and paper towels, I want you to know that the the thoughts and prayers of all patriotic Americans are with you. Except Demorcats of course. For those of you who have lost family members, like babies, I want you to know that I will visit the disaster area when it is safe to do so, and my bones spurs are feeling better, to show my support. We will be having a baby shower. I will personally toss replacement babies to the crowds of adoring voters. Except for Democrats of course. That should ensure complete recovery. Because youll get bugger all else from me. DJT - your presiDUNCE.

Where are employers going to find wage slaves if that are obliged to pay a living wage?In the good old days of slavery, the slave owners had to feed, clothe and house their slaves.Nowadays employers can rely on the state to top up the minimum wage so the wage slave class can feed, clothe and house themselves.Apparently big business thinks that social welfare is just fine. For them. HOPE-less.

The Trump phenomenon is nothing more and nothing less than a serial assault on the truth.Sorry. Correction.. The Trump phenomenon is a literal nothing burger. Thanks goodness we have the free and unfettered fourth estate to save us from this buffoon.Normal service will be resumed just as soon as possible.

ALL nations have a responsibility to other nations not to mess with them. Except the USA of course. They can, and do, mess with anyone they chose.Evidence? 47 wars since WW2. Dipping out of TPPA, NAFTA, Paris Accord, Iran Nuclear Pact. Dumping on NATO, WTO. And many many more.

There is absolutely no legitimate reason for selling our land to foreign owners. Except for the greed of the current owners. Thats ok then.It is a total myth that selling our land is somehow good for investment. Total BS.

One of the interesting things in this whole sorry saga is that there is a tradition that a President cannot be indicted for a crime. As far as I can see, there is no actual law or constitutional provision to back this up. Contrary citations welcome. However Congress has the power to impeach the President for High Crimes and Misdemeanors. This is where it gets political. The politicians get to decide what constitutes a crime. With a Republican dominated Congress there seems little prospect of any agreement on the nature of any crime. If perchance such agreement is reached, the Senate then gets to conduct an Impeachment trial. It appears from past experience that this could be a whole new circus in itself. Clinton felt that his misdemeanors were minor, and eventually the Senate agreed. Nixon knew he was guilty, and ran for cover with a pardon from Ford to keep him warm.Interesting times.

The current hypocrisy surrounding the Kavanaugh confirmation is all we need to know to show that the Republicans and their naked emperor are utterly and completely amoral. There is absolutuly no both sides to this presidency. To pretend otherwise is pure chicanery. Trump is without a shadow of doubt the most despicable president ever. His supporters are sadly delusional.

One of five potential scenarios. One that could arise if we stick our heads in the sand. A scenario developed so that we can see a possible future we can avoid. But only if we want to.The ignorance displayed in some of the comments is quite simply deplorable.

Big crowd? Small crowd? What a load if irrelevant twaddle. I have it on good authority that at least three of the crowd were there to feed the pigeons, one was looking for Forest Gump and another was a bum looking for a park bench to sleep on.When it comes to size, what concerns me most about the Great Enlightened One with the very small hands is his itsy bitsy tinsy winsy tiny wee brain. Oooh. And his very very very short fuse.

Winston Churchill once claimed that History will be kind to me for I intend to write it..In Trumps case, we already know that will not be 1 because he has already tweeted that history.

+41−11

It is interesting because anybody that has a world view that extends beyond their own parochial and provincial interests should be deeply concerned about the threats that Trump and his ilk represent. Threats to the environment, world peace and global trade.

+31−4

The Trumpaholic logic that he can do no wrong reminds me of that well thought out slogan from the US in the 50s and 60s Id rather be dead than red. No further debate required. Im off to teach the cat how to beat the dog at playing chess. Should be a breeze.

When Machiavelli wrote The Prince he had the Medicis in mind. His general thesis was that the aims of princes (and Presidents?) can justify the use of immoral means to achieve those ends. Fast forward 5 centuries and voilá! A brand new star student to give the word Machiavellian a whole new currency.

Play more golf Trumpy. Your approval will improve. While you are out on the golf course, you arent doing anything bad. Except for cheating at golf of course. But that doesnt really count as bad does it?

The greatest ever leader of the greatest ever nation that ever was that will be great again one day will make the greatest ever leader of any union ever and get the greatest deal for workers. Great. I find that so easy to believe. Why doesnt everybody else see that this is a good and great thing? Saint Donald has tweeted it so it must be 1? Right? Yeah? Nah.

+29−4

The worry is that we are slowly becoming inured to the all pervading malignancy that infects this presidency. This is dangerous territory if we start to accept the erratic, tempestuous, incompetent and corrupt behaviour of Donald Trump as being somehow normal. Watch out planet Earth. This is definitely not ok.

+34−10

The really interesting thing here is whether or not a Democrat dominated House should impeach DJT.If they do, the trial will be conducted by the Senate. A likely Republican dominated Senate is most unlikely to convict. The bunfight will be an ongoing entertainment. Saint Donald the Duplicitous will lie and bully and bluster. Republicans will quiver and quake as they try to justify supporting the Moron-in-Chief. Democrats will run around like headless chooks as they each try to make a name for themselves as a credible candidate for 2020.Meanwhile on Main Street, Mr and Mrs Average Joe fret about the price of gas. America! The greatest nation on Earth. Yeah? Nah!

When slavery was abolished, the capitalists simply created the wage slave class. Easy as. They had to feed, clothe and house the slaves anyway. At a minimalist level of course. Now it is quite simple.. Pay the slaves to do that for them. Minimum wage of course. And the government can tax them as well. Talk about win-win. Except for the losers of course.

Yes I confess. A culture that celebrates the oppression of half of the population. A culture that celebrates self aggrandisement over concern for ones fellows. A culture where blatant corruption and bribery are taken as normal. Yes. If condemning such a culture is racist, then I am a racist. However I believe that I an simply a moral person who will condemn evil however it dresses. With or without a towel on its head.

+26−5

Yep. I hate him. For what he is doing to the environment. For what he is doing to world trade. For his pervasive threat to world peace. Is that enough reason to hate him already? But wait. Theres more.

If you recall the so-called Pentagon Papers you will start to understand what can and cant be believed. Robert McNamara authorised the creation of these papers so that historians would know the truth about the American failure in Vietnam, while at the same time lying to the American people and the world at large. While Trump apologists will cry foul and fake, history will be the judge. Corroboration of Woodwards work will not necessarily be immediate. But it will come. All those that know the real truth will eventually overcome their fear and speak openly.Deep Throat took 3 decades to be revealed as Mark Felt. Truth will out.

Money grubbing council will drive off paying customers from small businesses and cafes in the central city. These small businesses will go bust or move to the burbs. Councils rates income will decrease by more than the the gains from parking. Hooray! More short term policy stupidity from our council. Idiots. Vote them out. Ive started a list.

Ill use like a real pen in my small hands to write like real words. Some of them will be really really big words. Some of these words will make actual like sentences. Some of these sentences will like actually mean stuff. Like. It will be the greatest book of all time.
