Yep anything you say girls, I have no idea what is right or wrong regarding interaction between the sexes in the eyes of women these days, totally confused, I do know that women have always had sexual power over men, not sure if they want me to be a man now, or a man who is like a woman, or what they say they want and what they really want are two different things.

+55−0

Im not still trying to get cash from the Romans. Yes we are a savage bunch of humans, all of us, and we are becoming more sophisticated and I would say fair in most instances looking for a fair balance of redress, but it has to end somewhere. Maori were not some peace loving, environmentalist, fair culture, far from it. Lets not get too carried away, end settlements now and move on, together.

+52−3

The issue is these are very elderly humans who do not have the money for market rent, and perhaps prefer a caravan to a room in a boarding house, there is such a thing as care, compassion and kindness, along with a human right to shelter, we seem to have become a nation of uncaring property investors vs the rest, it should change.

+59−13

So what is really happening in NZ? we cant afford to build the cheapest of houses with cheap timber of which we have crazy amounts of. Although many dont see, half of us are on the breadline, yes we still buy food and pay rent, but one month away from being broke, its an actual mess, the only happy ones seem to be big business and the banks, do the rules need changing?

+49−5

The renters will have a hard time keeping up with the investors mortgage repayments, the investors will then claim its the governments fault or the fact they are asked to insulate, the boomers will blame the first home buyers for eating too much avocado, and meanwhile the banks are laughing all the way to .... well themselves.

+47−4

Snake in the grass, excuse the pun, big pharma want that pie, beware of business hijacking our right to free medicine and recreation, we all know its going to be legal soon, the tide is too strong, but lets not be foolish and jump into laws that just benefit big business.

+44−4

Which sex do you see predominantly wandering around the shops during working hours and sipping lattes with their friends? How about a job in the mine? or labouring on building sites etc. And I would not mind being a prostitute with endless female clients paying me good money just for being a man. This is getting out of control, men and women both have differences, we should celebrate that we cannot be exactly equal, sometimes we win sometimes we lose.

+53−14

Why criminalise cannabis users, imagine if they could happily partake, much like alcohol and then be on the same side as the police, it would be great to have pot smokers and police happy together, supporting each other and helping on issues that really effect our society in a bad way like violence, theft, drink driving, hard drug use etc

+38−3

So when I deposit $100 in the bank, it shows as $100 in my account, however with fractional reserve lending the bank only has to actually keep $10 of that and lends the $90 to someone else, they may then put that in an account and it will show $90 but only $9 is kept and the rest lent out. My $100 can become hundreds of dollars of made up money. Its a house of cards, the banks are the money lenders, do not fall for any community nice nice marketing, check our poverty and their wealth, only vote for laws in favour of the public please.

I am so fed up of this stuff, try being a single full time dad in NZ, taking responsibility, see how all social agencies are geared toward women, after so many years, working full time and zero help from the government or society, I am really disappointed. Stop running down men.

+30−0

So many boomers who like a puff reaching retirement now, a cheap almost free drug that can take the pain away and not cause harsh side effects like many prescribed drugs, get a little high, enjoy cultivating and gardening different varieties, very cheap, almost free. Therein lies the problem, why it is illegal, its about money, the smallest bit of research will tell you so. Time for complete legalisation now, good things will happen in NZ.

+30−6

Its the biggest myth in the industry that employing a more expensive agent achieves a better price, perpetuated by reinz who work for the big companies. Just compare sales stats to GVs of various companies in a fair and comprehensive way, you will find zero difference. The only difference is $10k gone from your pocket and lots of glossy ads promoting their company.

+25−2

Hardest part for full time singles is housing if you don,t own a home, high rents, having to move at 6 weeks notice, I never received a cent with two kids full time, earned too much, but not enough to save for a deposit, meanwhile Aucklanders turning up, adding to their portfolios, law has to change so single parent children can have a future.

+25−2

NZ is becoming a world leader in wealth inequality, our humble attitude has been exploited by business, Milk and food, and timber, power, not to mention tax free property gouging politicians, didnt an ex pm just make a few mil tax free selling to a foreigner? so many going broke here now, its a tragedy.

+28−8

I hear you, pretty isolating being full time single dad to daughters, I try to teach them to appreciate and respect both genders, but wow do the mums give you the cold shoulder or what, if you have no family around it can be a tough experience, wouldnt ever give up though.

+19−0

We need caravan/trailer parks in nZ now, and lots of them, heaps of boomers coming into retirement without enough money for the flash retirement villages, they cannot afford market rent, and there is a housing shortage. And to the haters, we cannot all be wealthy, thats how society works, and now in NZ we have a very wealthy vs a very poor population, show some compassion.

+18−1

Maori seem so unhappy with sharing anything about their culture, I do not feel welcome, this would be a very odd thing to make compulsory. Always voted Green, its about our environment, If this is where their energy is now going, I will vote elsewhere, not much choice left though.

+19−3

Whipped boys, who in their right mind would go out with a woman like that? even if I was desperate for a girlfriend, I would rather go for walk on the beach than be humiliated and deceived like that, the poor man that ends up with her.

+16−0

This is just starting, the demographics are frightening, better start CGT as soon as possible, tax property when used as business, help people afford deposit requirements now, build small houses now, everyone who has an IQ over 10 knows it, to say otherwise is a lie caused by greed. We have become morally bankrupt and allowed the banks to clean us out.

+20−5

So who or what is still standing in the way of legalisation? I imagine the answer will bring us closer to politicians with ties to the pharmaceutical industries who could lose massive market share of the pain relief market, imagine an almost free alternative to expensive pharmacy opioids that works incredibly well with very little side effects, I can see they are worried.

+15−5

I know a single parent with 2 kids, earns over the limit for working for families assistance, pays heaps of tax, is renting, no holidays ever, and has spent her deposit for a house that was enough for a modest house three years ago as she had to start using it to pay higher rent and kids expenses. Now that deposit requirement has gone out of reach and realises she will now always be poor. NZ has changed forever. The banks have played the clever game, assisted by our government.

+13−4

Firstly wow its a big world and many older men were once rock stars and dreamers and creators, not just cricket lovers and council members. Men especially in NZ are terrified of interaction with younger women, they also despise any men who cross the line sexually with younger women, we are actually mostly decent humans. I can give plenty of examples of younger women that use their sexuality to lure and achieve, see if they can get you interested, flirt, etc we should call that out too, It really annoys me because if you actually did find them attractive and respond it could be devastating.

+13−4

Lets be clear here, to suggest investors are in it for income rather than capital gain is laughable to say the least, and providing a service for the poor renters is definitely not why people invest in property. Who can blame investors, mums and dads etc, they are just trying to get ahead like everyone else, using a tax free business loophole, combined with immigration fuelled demand to get wealthier, add to this the deposit requirement handbrake for buyers without equity and its an easy road to riches, at the expense of a cohesive and content society. So these investors arent villains at all, the law is wrong, and the banks know that full well.

+17−9

lol, white guy walking around south Auckland at night, men waiting outside bars for women who refused drinks from them does that really happen? not being smart, just be surprised if it did and if those guys were white males. We should severely punish serious assaults on anyone and hopefully you will feel safer, I completely agree, however in my experience ethnicity does not create a better or worse human.

+9−2

The forgotten statistic, single parents, and their children, not sure on it being solely female, but anyway its near impossible to save, let alone survive, especially when renting, its tough as in NZ now, things have changed.

+6−0

The cost to our society through mental health, poverty, crime, social exclusion is unfathomable, when business has been allowed to control our housing market, offering tax breaks and no tax, while first home buying families simply cannot meet the banks deposit criteria but can still pay the equivolent rent is a tragedy, most politians have rentals as this is an easy get rich scheme in NZ, at such a massive monetary and social cost, its actually criminal, or is there no crisis here people?

+8−2

Many many broke boomers ending work soon. Everything in NZ would be better for everyone if shelter was cheaper and secure, everything would be better, mental health, crime etc, its the massive black dog barking at everyone. Can we have an actual article about the banks and NZ and the big picture, focussing on tax free housing business and its effect on our society. Its the banks making it hard for everyone.

+10−4

Cant really blame the landlords, they just taking advantage of the system, change the system, the banks system,Tax property investment now, use this tax to assist renters to own a home, and to build new small houses, small house only please, for hard working people who want to be part of society.

+8−2

Lol, the investors comments, we provide housing, but in fact they take home ownership away through higher price competition, not their fault though, its about the only way to get ahead, or even survive, in mean old NZ these days. We have a massive social imbalance that has been allowed to escalate with the last ten years of government, the effects on crime, homelessness, suicide, health, and social community will be shocking, the solution is to slow immigration, increase wages, tax residential property investment, and build small houses like mad, even then it will take time to create a decent society again.

+11−5

A pretty strong pattern here, the Kiwi women not that interested in the kiwi bloke, I find the men mostly too weak and confused and the women too aggressive and entitled, except Suki, a lovely woman. Bottom line is women appear to have the power and choice in our society for mating, no need to start a movement or to protest that, the men are left sad and lonely, not sure what is happening.

+11−6

Its the cost of shelter, the banks nutted this one out, they get huge returns because we are not paying tax on investment properties, they loan more to investors, prices go up, they get paid more, simple, and it is ruining our society, why cannot politicians see this?

+5−0

I dont think the dominant discourse was, or is racist, just surprising, Im sure people in Nelson celebrate Matariki etc, and probably be surprised if Maui was portrayed as some white guy in a business suit, probably freak out a few mokopuna too.

+6−2

Kiwis caught in the perfect trap by the banks, with our government of the past 9 years well aware with the bankers finest at the helm. We dont build enough shelter in NZ, we allow too many immigrants in to work for low wages, we allow residential property investment gains to be tax free, high deposit requirements for first home buyers, easy as to buy multiple properties for existing owners, who oddly think they are providing a service. Shame on our governors who let this happen, the fallout is already showing in our world leading negative social statistics. It is criminal.

+5−1

A massive joke, lol, you dont have to be a rocket scientist to figure out this elitists ridiculous action that will do absolutely zero difference to Kauri die back, barking up the wrong tree, plant some more bush and Kauri on farming land be a billion times more effective, if trees is what you want, if power and mana is what yr after then ban the unwashed rabble from the bush.

+7−3

Just do it folks, any fact based logical thought process says the pot law is an ass, that is held sway by a minority due to mainly financial reasons, see pharmaceutical and alcohol industries. Life is short, a referendum in 2020? lol, ignore the law, do it for medicine, do it for recreation, be kind to your friends and neighbours and contribute to a robust healthy society, the stigma has gone.

+4−1

Well said, homeowners and investors didnt work harder than anyone else, they just played the game, which was stacked in favour of existing wealth at the expense of the less well off, divorcees, and now many hard working Kiwis. Tax free was the ticket for the investors, and just what the banks wanted double security on its loans, the banks have created this nightmare, complicit with our past government, its been a massive, disasterous scam.

+13−10

Why play the property ladder game? why cant people just have a secure roof over their head for a reasonable cost and enjoy life, the banks have created a game, using tax and deposit rules to create competition to over inflate our cost of shelter, add in the mix slack govt immigration policy and lack of building and we have our problem, easy first fix, investors 50% deposit others 5%, slow immigration build small eco houses. What is wrong with a better life for all of us.

+5−3

Years ago when I used to just take life as a western system that was democratically run by generally caring people in governments etc, I would have laughed at such a statement, now however these are the facts, I see the banks manipulating and raping our society, sound too harsh? nope its a plain fact as bert correctly points out.

+2−0

Wow Bob youre making it sound like its as bad as booze, that people dont just smoke it, the eat it too omg. The whole of existence is mind altering Bob, take religion for example, at least pot doesnt create war. and why not look at the legal opiod industry in the US, killing thousands and pushed by big pharma, there is a real headline for you. Cannabis is the peoples drug, a high, and most importantly an affordable medicine that treats an incredible plethora of physical and mental conditions, it is illegal in NZ now only because competing industries want to keep it that way, pharmaceutical and alcohol.

+2−0

I work full time SANZ , bring up two children as a solo parent and have never received a cent in government assistance, have owned several rental properties but due to circumstance now rent, cannot afford after years of trying to afford a deposit again, things are not always what you presume.

+2−0

We wouldnt need higher wages if housing costs were kept in check, shelter cost is way out of proportion, start taxing residential property investment like any other business, not just tax breaks. Home ownership brings community pride and well being and we could live off less.

+5−3

Rents follow the price of housing mortgages, some extreme poverty happening to a large portion of our population now, whats that, astronomical bank profits, John Key will be happy.

+24−22

Yes, I have resentment for the law, loved by the banks, that allows this system to perpetuate and ruin and divide our once fair and decent society, work hard and get ahead is great, not the investors themselves, I have owned many rental properties but have seen the destructive impact on society, look a little deeper and you will see, depression, crime, and despair, not just holidays in Asia and new SUVs.

+5−3

These articles keep running the video that does not mention the rampant investor factor that created competition, driving prices up, it was one of the key reasons for the crisis, investors chasing tax free gains, why doesnt the video mention this?

+6−5

Move to Dunedin or pick up something for your portfolio there, Property investment in NZ is easy as, tax free, no deposit, tax breaks, little competition from wannabe owners because the banks want too much deposit from them, its the pigs back, and the only way to get ahead for most, trouble is it creates massive social problems.

+2−1

What? homelessness, unemployed. Hello alcohol. Whats always with the shady, bogan pics on any story about cannabis in NZ media? what about all the thousands of Kiwi lawyers, politicians, and professionals that imbibe? like sipping from a fancy thin stemmed wine glass vs a tramp with a brown paper bag. I can tell you which drug of the two when ingested create actions and thoughts that have more morality, integrity and creativity, its not alcohol, in fact if you want to try to get sober, I would suggest pot is a great way to assist detox from alcohol.

+2−1

Jeepers mate, have you ever been to a pub, been hungover, worked with people who are hung over, worked with people on prescription meds, mental health is deteriorating rapidly in the modern world, doctors and their pharmacies are all over it, have a look around. I do agree though that any impairment to faculties and you should not drive, thats a good conversation to have.

+3−2

Seems like you cant save enough deposit let alone just make the repayments if on an average wage in NZ now, so investors can buy them with no deposit lol, and charge huge rent to cover costs, and we have to live somewhere so we pay that rent. The tax perks and no tax rules for investors combined with high deposit requirement for first home/divorcees and high immigration has ruined our country, and we praise our politicians? most of them have portfolios of property, its the only business in NZ without tax, why? BTW its all too late now.

+10−10

Best comment here, we are moving into a world where it is more about corporations, companies and money/power, rather than race and ethnicity. I can see so much resentment brewing from people who identify strongly with one race or the other, I bet there are so many non Maori looking Maori who are taking money and many Maori looking Kiwis who are homeless and receive nothing. Banks and large corporations are winning in NZ now, this is just a sideshow.

+1−1

The tourism levy is fine, should be $50 though, kiwis mostly trouble keeping up with living costs, and tourist destinations need maintenance, the patronising behaviour Taika thing is however off putting.

+0−0

Amazing how many issues surrounding pay in different industries are related to the massive increase in the cost of shelter, mortgages and rents are crippling Kiwis, accommodation costs have skyrocketed due to investor speculation and unbridled immigration, thats the truth folks.

+4−4

Kiwis used to be the same way about greenies, basically anyone who challenges the status quo, especially from a moral perspective, this creates a strong backlash from the entrenched. There is a bigger picture involving animal cruelty, environmental destruction and health that need to be considered and is sometimes swept under the carpet because its easy to criticise a preachy young vegan, they preach because perhaps they see the beauty and intelligence of a vegan diet. I am not vegan, or vegetarian, but leaning that way more as the earth seems to be on its knees with animal extinction and environmental destruction, veganism seems to be a better solution, and pretty tasty too if done right.

+3−4

Rents arent high because of property managers fees, its the cost of the mortgage that the tenant pays to the landlord that does the damage, the cost of housing is forcing the rents up, the extra rent is going to the banks.

+5−8

But do those jobs pay enough to save for a house deposit? sure you can work on an orchard or farm, for $15 per hour, but houses have just gone up 30% plus, Auckland investors helped drive that rise, locals may become resentful.

+9−13

Oh the lovely banks, taking us all for a ride and pushing us around with their confidence games, big business is not the most important part of a society, the people are, if there was any hint of a trickle down instead of greed, there would be some weight to this, the banks and big NZ business are truly self serving, their confidence matters not at all to most of us.

+9−13

You know when people earning over one hundred thousand a year go on strike, that the cost of living in NZ is at emergency levels, a lot of pain this Xmas for those on single incomes, trying to borrow money to pay rents.

+8−12

Sounds like a reasonably normal young adult, giving her a bunch of rules wont help. Best you can do in my opinion is provide a loving home for her and show her that you care about her, thats about all you can do really, dont threaten her with kicking her out, she will disrespect you. Its tough but you have to let her come and go as she pleases, agro makes it worse and will lower her self esteem, just tell her you love her and what you would prefer, she may ignore it for a while, but said and meant in the right way it will help her.

+3−7

Business confidence, labour? lol, we all a bit more educated now and realise the last unsustainable round of tax free property profit will end sometime, maybe its time for the fine dining lucky landlords, developers, flippers and bankers to get closer to the real NZ, we cant afford to eat out.

+4−8

Christians against poverty? In my experience they work a lot with business these days, a lot of networking and back scratching, tithing, donations, tax free lines blurred, massive property portfolios, its a joke they are offering this service without an ulterior motive, beware.

+2−7

Some of us could see this slow motion car crash occurring, the smug ones who have a couple of rentals and some overseas trips, selfies with their restaurant meals types, who can blame them playing the bankers game, will eventually realise society isnt so great with so much crime and people arent so friendly.

+6−11
