Yes the National machine is all getting a bit boring , Bridges comments remind me of a sulky loser that hates on everything being said but offers up no real great alternatives .Same when the Stuff comments get strategically over run by National supporters and like/dislikes thats getting to almost cringe levels too

Being a Pakeha that can have a simple conversation in Maori but I wouldnt call myself fluent, I find other non-Maori usually take a negative view on me speaking te reo , Maori that cant/dont speak it usually roll their eyes and Maori that are fluent seem hell bent on trying to correct and embarrass as much as possible . I dont know what the answer is, but its not a good environment to try and grow a language.

I am not worried about the number Maori going to prison if you do the crime you do the time , as a nation community we have enough support to help people ... if they want it .I am more concerned about the rich (and usually white) that seem to never go to prison you can rip people off millions and still stay in your mansion on the North shore or somewhere , that seems unfair

I really rebel against this idea that politics has to be a place full of ego John Key calls the National party what the hell is she talking about ?? everyone looks at Simon he shrugs his shoulders lol

They talk about the market like its got its own persona but really its simple greed and over confidence that fail the market .The guy working 50+ hours paying his correct taxes with no investments, no influence to the government of the day, no sneaky trusts, no hedge funds is the guy who copes it when it all turns to custard

You cant really believe this dribble, China has done us no favors that havent benefited China .And your call for the time is right for a Chinese Mayor ? what about vote for the person you see most fit for purpose for the job , their ethnic background shouldnt come into it

Funny because I get the impression immigrants are the ones who feel some how they are better than the ones that are born here , thats even hinted when you note how much you have sacrificed to get here . Government may push for immigration but Im not too fussed either way to be honest its good and bad . I dont consider myself better because my family has been here 6 generations, but we are different. We built this country that you enjoy , when immigrants say back home we did this.... . Well this is the only home we know

Could be handled with a bit more consultation by the looks , I mean if people could leave their egos at the door and compromise on ALL sides maybe there would be a bit more contentment ....and maybe Im dreaming

A fool and their money are soon parted , so if your poor and waiting on your parents etc to get some money its probably not going to be too long until you are poor again .People accusing parents of spending their inheritance ... guess what its only your inheritance once they die, before then its theirs to do what they want!

They should focus on fully funding primary-high schools so donations are not being constantly asked for , give these schools more resources like more councilors , social workers and even psychiatrists and really try to give ALL children the best start .This isnt an incentive for people to got to uni its just a saving for who was going to go anyway

I work for a SME and even we have a process for this kind of thing, I would think parliament would be the same ? its not about what he or she would of done although I understand the sentiment , its about following the processes and being pragmatic

Well in New Plymouth the rates never go up and one day we will possibly pay no rates , thanks to the smart investments of a previous Mayor who sold our heirloom PowerCo shares that were making a tidy return .... Oh wait that fairytale never had its happy ending .Well at least those responsible were held to account ... oh no now Im really in dream land.Back to reality and our usual rates rises I suppose :-/

There is some truth to this as in my place the majority of trade jobs are filled by immigrants because of a so called shortage in engineers electricians etc then they have pushed for their kids to be their apprentices , while the kiwi guys out of school which some have been there for a long time dont even get an opportunity to apply and end up leaving .Nothing against the immigrants just a real shame we have had such a gap in kiwis having the opportunity to do apprenticeships Well done on the 50+ years good haul

Isnt her issue around gay weddings says nothing about them actually being gay ? thought lawyers would of picked that up ...but probably better lawyers elsewhere anywayThe restaurant that refused Donald Trumps press secretary service is that discriminatory ?

It does all come down to timing some good luck some good management . I can see how people would be upset seems the author has really focused on how this is going to effect the bank balance with not a lot of empathy to the fact that thousands of living things have died

While other countries look after the interests of its people we seem to let everyone else walk all over us , and you can not criticize certain ways other nations conduct themselves without been labelled a racist or a xenophobe.Time we harden up , we dont have to be Mr nice guy anymore

We needed to keep a more diverse range in public land reserves its all well and good to have nice mountain ranges under doc administration , but its shame we didnt look at the bigger picture , if it could be made in to farmland we cleared and drained it , if it was too dry we irrigated it.We could still stop this (e.g mckenzie country?) and get a good balance of productive land and conservation

Its not about the earning more as management , its about fairness. Whenever this comes up its always get higher education ,start your own business , its tough being a ceo etc . Well all situations are different, these still need workers to run them and seems you need the right last name to get the top jobs anyway.Appreciate your workers and most will show it back it .

Export market is catered for, pay for a premium product, its huge and the more product you sell the bigger return so it makes sense to send best overseas and even sell cheaper in some high volume markets. Farming/meatworks or any exporter is a business they are not a charity .Next time you buy an imported item consider what the importer has paid for it and their mark up for a comparison

These walks are a classic example of NZ being a tourist hot spot without investing in infrastructure . I think tourists should be charged and then hire track wardens etc ...Its a wilderness area you say? that horse has bolted , do the round the mountain if you want a 1 back to nature experience

The 6th generation thing is no different to say moving into a little community and finding your place , adapting to the way things are done there etc ,just because people from NZ expects the same from other countries doesnt mean we are bigoted or racist.I asked a recent immigrant which flag he was voting for when the referendum was on,he replied none I havent been here long enough and I thought that was a fair call

Yes and if the dollar had stayed the same you would of said all labours fault and if the dollar had risen you would of said all labours fault . A low dollar is actually really beneficial to a lot of our industries , mine included so Im happy regardless of cause

Government should of already had allocated solid infrastructure being developed into Taranaki , the country owes it to them for all the royalties and tax from O and G over the years .Even Dubai etc are investing heavily in other because they know at some stage the wells will become unviable .Also you can blame labour but lets face it , it was the cost of getting in with the greens and thats all

Cycleways are more important than other recreational users , when more cycleways are made it looks good at election time (local and central) and when you are the ones that want to be in charge of budgets , does anything else matter ?Pureora is a good example they bulldozed an old scar through the forest spent mega on infrastructure etc ( yes its brought lots of benefits too) ,but there are other traditional users of the forest that have never seen really seen improvement for their interests
