Trump had a bad week. mid terms a disaster in reality. House can now make him disclose a bunch of stuff including tax records. No wonder he is struggling....
Karori is one of the biggest suburbs in NZ. I had to get a taxi home from Lambton Quay after watching bus after bus fly by full or stop to overcrowd a few more people on. Karori is a family suburb with thousands of kids needing to be bussed to school and parents needing a reliable service. These services havent bedded in or had teething issues. They need more frequent services and some buses that start at the top of Lambton Quay between 5-6.
Obama inherited both his wars and the GFC occured before he was inaugurated. Tarp funding of failing banks occurred under GW Bush. Obama then put in place measures that saved the country from ruin. all fact. easily obtainable if you care to look for it (unlikely).
The sitting President normally does lose seats at the midterms. It happens even to more popular presidents. The impact of thebTrump effect remains to be seen but if by elections are anything to go by then yes a sea change is in store. As for the article - it makes a point but it is useless. I gave up trying to talk to Trump supporters (at least about politics) Trump is a politician but then you have to take away reason, accountability and moral fibre to understand him.
It is so amazing how Trumps America is so unified. So amazing it amazes me. So unified. He represents hate and fear. I cant wait until he is nerfed in November - it wont shut him up though hell blame hacking and launch and inquiry.
250 million people live in the United States. I believe the majority would prefer a President who would put them before himself and not vote based on sticking it to the media roll on November. Then well finally see how strong the Trump effect is.
Impeachment is not a pipedream. If the Republicans take a bath there will be a growing number in their own ranks not willing to risk their careers by continuing to support Don.
Many people high profile people have T1 of a kid with T1. It is not great to get it and necessitates a lifestyle that can be hard to manage (especially for teenagers). Supreme Court judge Sonya Sotomeyer is one, so is Nick Jonas, our own Craig McMillan. As evidence by comments here it is still confused with T2 and lifestyle rather than being an auto immune disease (which is a pity). The stigma that you somehow gVe a child T1 be letting them eat candy bars is probably the most disappointing reaction.
I still have my old PS1. My kids have grown up with retro all the way. Sometimes they will choose and old PS1 or Crash Bandicoot game over something on their Wii U. Great games arent about graphics they are all about playability. My theory is that the constraints that old games developers had to deal with made game play a key component that is sometimes missing in todays games which can be filled with over elaborate cut scenes and hard to learn controls...
The 2008 Obama campaign was credited with using social media to create a ground up campaign - it is different because a large portion of his campaign funding was achieved by small donations as a result. At no point did Obamas campaign spread outrageous lies such as Comet Pizza or that he had the support of the Pope. A hammer can be used to hit a nail and build a house or to smash a window to steal something (it isnt about the tool, i.e. social media, it is about the messaging, who is doing it and what it is designed to achieve).
impeachment proceedings will begin in November after Don has lost his razor thin majority in the mid-terms. Its a numbers game - there will be Republicans ready to flip on Don but biding their time to make sure it counts - showing their hand too early could be counterproductive as they would get hung out to dry in social media by the angry and nonsensical Trump gang.
Free speech is a tricky area. Everyone has a right to say what they want but conversely anyone can disagree with any statements for whatever reason and if you say outrageous things you cant stand there clutching your pearls hiding behind a but its free speech statement that absolves you of saying terrible things. If you can accurately predict someone is going to say outrageous and hurtful things - lets say the talk is available on YouTube already or they have written a book - then the reaction to free speech can be preemptive. lt isnt thought police - its being realistic about the harm caused by allowing the free speech in the first place if there is a pattern of controversy and hurt caused by it - in general people who advocate for abuses of human rights fall into this category. It is an edge case but they happen.
The birtherism movement was thinly disguised racism. No other word for it. The equation was his dad was Kenyan therefore he was born in Kenya. I am surprised Obama waited as long as he has to say what he feels about Trump after that episode where Trump dragged politics to a new low (which he has since surpassed in spades). It would be nice if Trump applied the same levels of rigour to his own politics. Tax returns? out of court settlements to avoid prosecution? you name it. This guy is the worst.
