Air New Zealands Koru Club: Its time to kick the freeloaders out

Both my husband and I buy Koru membership. To take our son with us when we travel (I think) is one of the benefits. What gets me is the free vouchers.  So many people I know go by earning vouchers....Also, what happened to the dress standard??? Im a bit of a slob, but I like the thought of dressing nicely to use the lounges...Â

Some time back in the recent past I was in the Christchurch koru lounge and it was loaded with people in super casual gear, just barely past the jockstrap and jandals minimum code. Time to tighten it all up I think.

Just as well you don’t have your way!

Like that idea, or bring in different types of membership, Single, couple or family.

Love the Koru Club, cannot fault it, yes gets a little busy at times but thats life! Â

Thats the way it works now so that doesnt change anything.Â

Listen to the first world whiiiiinnne what a disgrace these people are.

Spot on piece. Getting between Kiwis and free food can be a life threatening experience

Or avoid LAX and go via San Francisco

Well said Disco Stu. YEs the rubbish that gets printed these days...........

Lol I think youll find there aint many people who do pay for memebership. I paid for a 5 year membership as I travel alot and 99 percent of the time trVel alone. You saying I shouldnt be allowed in there? I dont drink alcohol, very rarely do I eat the food. I just like to relax with a coffee and abook most of the time.

Absolutely agree. The Auckland lounge in particular is over patronised and the ongoing delays in flights from Air NZ makes the issue worse as there is a back up and therendoesnt seem to be a connection between the people at reception and working with traffic management. On wednesday this week multiple.flights were delayed and business people were standing up still still working while families enjoyed the comfort of the lounge. I would recommend setting up a business only lounge where you cant bring plus 1s then you go to Koru as you do now. Also travelling every week there are some employees that clearly travel for a 2 hour meeting and spend hours in KC. Restrict domestic access to 1 hour before flights will also reduce congestion

Im very sorry to hear you might have to sit near a crying baby.

Rich people! Wow envy much. I am certainly not rich but spend many hours per week at airports. The lounge is very welcome. Maybe you wouldnt feel that way if you did more than 1 or 2 flights a year.

I travel internationally all the time. Because I travel regularly I use the lounge all the time. Im such a regular traveller I even get to notice the food is the same, sometimes. I often notice important people like me in the lounge but I never say hello because regular and important travellers like me know that would be naff. I think there should be a special lounge for people like me, away from those who dont know just how much of a regular traveller I am. I usually fly to Timaru up to 4 times a year.

I too earned my Koru admission by the 6 figures my comapny spends on my airfares annually.I am well aware though of companies that deliberately game the system by buying a some staff a membership and expecting them to invite their non member colleagues in on a routine basis....Mostly i travel on my own, so might bring a guest in once or twice a year. Maybe that is the answer: Allow members a total of 10 guest entries year to cater for the odd family trip, but eliminate the recidivist freeloaders...

Totally agree exactly what I did in Auckland the other day waiting for a ChCh flight. The lounge was over crowded, stuffy and felt dirty through overuse

Hahaha oh the tears of the Koru club members... yes yesss! I will eat all your food, guzzle all your crappy cheap champagne and jostle you at the pig troooough they call Koru Lounge.
