and according to that sign, people can walk their dogs, but not between 10am and 6:30pm on the beach and foreshore. seems pretty clear. there was an article a month or so back where a girl was bowled over by a poorly controlled dog and fractured 2 vertebrae in her neck. and then the seal got attacked by another poorly controlled dog.

No its not a dog beach during the specified times. During the hours dogs are permitted on the beach it becomes a shared space. Which calls for respect and tolerance from all users.

Its a dog beach during the specified times, if you dont like dogs dont go to that beach at those times, theres plenty of other beaches for humans, not many for dogs.

Dogs are still required to be under control.if you dont like dogs dont go to that beach at those times Unfortunately dog restrictions are widely broken. Have had to leave areas where dogs are banned many times because of people ignoring the rules. (I dont mind dogs, but wife has been bitten in the past by a trusted dog, so does not like being approached by dogs unless dog is clearly under control of owner.)

Yes dogs on a beach are a lot of fun especially when they are not meant to be there at specific times and when they attack and hurt people or wildlife .

Dont want to ban dogs.i have 6 of them.i want to ban people that make no attempt to control their animals. Its not the dogs fault it is the fault of the arrogant irresponsible owners

Cant say ive ever seen a 30ish kg toddler running around at 30ks left right and everywhere. Some people just have no respect for others using a public place and think they and their dog are the only one with the right to enjoy it. If you cant control your dog then you should not be allowed to own one

Takapuna locals think they own the beach and have their own rules regarding dogs running loose everywhere while they chit chat with their friends..Will never go back again. When a local was told to control her big dog from jumping on mine I was told Oh, you people and your little dogs. Takapuna beach ignoramas need a shake up in the way of a few infringement notices handed out on the 5 pm doggy play time owners.

AND LETS BRING IN THE RULES FOR CATS TOO!!

Yup I learnt to avoid this beach because of unrestrained dogs. Owners have a self righteous aura to them.

Most of Europe and the UK have 100 times our population density are are quite capable of sharing public spaces with dogs. They do not have histrionics if a person does not look where they are going and trips over a dog.

And I suppose youre such a good driver that you ignore speed limits too. Funny how rules only apply to other people, huh?

You have not seen a 30kg Labradoodle either. Its getting pretty tiresome hearing so many people want to ban things, when a modicum of common sense would do. One woman trips over a dog and all dogs should be banned....
