I don't think it's that at all. It's the US were talking about. The left are laughing at the hypocrisy of a Republican Party built on family values which now stands for the absolute opposite. NZ is not the US. And we are not as stupid or bigoted.

US politics has delved to all time lows. It seems now that as long as you have an (r) or (d) beside your name the populace will vote that way regardless of your competence or moral code. Partisan politics at its absolute worst. The CNNs and Foxs of the world are driving this with their respective bias reporting.

Evangelicals do not care about family values - they just pretend to. They are about, 1. Repealing Roe vs Wade (with a get out clause for themselves when they get their mistresses pregnant) and 2. Stacking the judiciary with their favoured choices. The American right sold out long ago.
