So we are to become so diversified that as collection of individuals, not a nation, we stand for nothing, have no common ethic and are only interested in what advances us as individuals and b....r the rest. The best way to destroy a nation is to focus on the individual and his/her rights lest we might be accused of causing offence.Grow up, get real.

No-one has yet come up with facts, and accurate costings,to convince us that a dam is the best solution to the water quality problems. It appears that vested interests will not allow any other viable, and possibly less expensive, options to be considered.

Lets be realistic. A WoF is relevant only at the time of testing. It states that at the time the vehicle complies with the requirements. What happens after the car leaves is the responsibility of the driver/operator. The regulations are quite clear on this. It is on the owner to ensure that his vehicle complies at all times with the requirements and to stop using it until it does. The vast majority of RTAs can be attributed to the three ins, Incompetence, Inattention. Inappropriate speed. Vehicle faults apply only in about 6% of cases and that includes tyre faults.Bad news is news. Good news does not make headlines.

It is a life sentence. I have lived with it for over 40 years and I didnt recognise the problem until I was 30. Total exclusion is the only way. If you didnt see it being prepared, dont eat it. This created difficulties eating out or being invited out. You dont think of fries as a problem, but battered items are cooked in the same vat.I have found an enzyme called Digest Gluten and this helps considerably if the diet goes slightly wrong, but I would not eat cream buns to prove it. Corn is the only grain I can eat comfortably. The gluten-free flours dont work for me at all.Life is still worth living, despite dietary difficulties. Dont despair.

What do you expect when so much time is spent in administering the NCEA requirements and less time is spent in classroom interaction. Not to mention time lost in disciplinary matters and general distractions. Social promotion and wide range of ability (and interest) in a classroom makes teaching less attractive. Go back to it? Not likely.

I think it is unfair that EV and hybrid vehicles do not pay road user charges. We get taxed so they can use the road without contributing to the cost of maintenance. The only consolation for Gold Card holders is the discount that two fuel companies offer (but not at all of their sites), Those of us living in the country and having to travel to a bigger centre for appointments are starting to find it hard. An EV would be nice, but I cant afford one.

There are two issues here, not one. CoF compliance and WoF, The writer is confusing the two issues. WoF compliance is not the whole issue as seems to be the case in this article.CoF testing is done at specialist testing stations and compliance for them has nothing to do with Wofs, most of which are done by garages.. If you suspect your WoF is not properly done, take it up with the issuer of the warrant.first., After all, you are responsible in law for the condition of your car.. If you dont get satisfaction, which would be unusual, then approach the MTA or LTSA.

The problem for most of us has been the failure of both sides to present logical, factual and unbiased information. No doubt the councillors had a very difficult time coming to a decision based on facts, accurate (given the unknowns) costings and fair assessments of the alternatives. They certainly were not helped by Alas Smith and Jones wading in with emotionally charged misinformation.. Regardless of whether we are pro or anti dam, we must appreciate that the decision was arrived at democratically, and political pressure was disregarded by the majority. Thank you, elected members, for your courageous decision. The We know better attitude of central government has to be challenged and democracy reclaimed by us, the people.

Just remember that we are all promoted to our highest level of inefficiency. The better you prove yourself as a competent classroom teacher, the quicker you are promoted out of the classroom into an administrative position (for which you probably are not trained and may barely cope). In my opinion, as an ex teacher, there should be a teaching head as well as an administrative executive to run a school.

I have a 3.3kw system on the roof and with both of us retired, we are able to use appliances during generation periods. The 8c/unit is trifling and it would be great to get back closer to the one for one payment we had six years ago. We had no power bills for about four months then. It was great. Not so now. Dont trust a government to be consistent on anything except chasing votes., Mal18Be careful, SteveW, if you have to borrow to finance your installation, you will find it takes much longer to break even, even past the expected life of the panels etc.

Curious now that we are getting articles in praise of glyphosate and 1080. The opposition to both must be starting to have an effect. The same could be said about brodifacoum which has been studied thoroughly by the Society of Toxicology and revealed to be more than a super-warfarin. Apparently it is neurotoxic as well, collects in the central nervous system and affects all cell functions. (Study published June 2017) . In the absence of real independent scientific proof, wouldnt it be better to err on the side of safety?

30 in a class is not bad. We frequently had over 50 in a primary class in the 1950s and my Std 6 (form 2) had 52 pupils in it in 1955. Times have changed. Still, a number of us ended up at university and came out with degrees. It wasnt all that bad, unless you were the teacher. I guess we were more considerate and amenable than modern youngsters.
