Heres the one major issue I have with soft sentences- as a registered voter who lives within 50km of a Courtroom, I am forced to do jury duty. If I get chosen as a juror I have to listen to a lawyer who is often being payed well from my taxes to tell me why his client is innocent and at the end of this process if we find the accused guilty - we have no real say in sentencing. The judge will decide how harsh the sentence is from an already limited list of penalties. In return for this we/ our employer gets about $30 a day. Why am I being forced (with the threat of a fine) to take part in a charade I no longer believe is Working as it should?

You missed the bit about how badly these â˜investments are preforming or the irony of an American who is proud of his Scottish ancestry and his foreign third wife yet is anti - immigration. It does remind me of all the other times American presidents have visited Britain and attacked the Mayor of London and tried to undermine the Prime Minister...(I might be thinking of the POTUS played by Billy Bob Thornton in the film â˜Love Actually.)

The Fake News Media wants so badly to see a major confrontation with Russia, even a confrontation that could lead to warâDid trump mention to putin that he believes Obama should have acted in some way militarily to stop putins actions in Crimea? Does trump even remember saying that or did he â˜misspeak? It is possible to be tough/honest with a world leader without automatically having to go to war with them, he seems to manage that so far with China. Too soon?

Nine more years? Given that it isnt year since they were â˜elected and New Zealand has elections every three years, does this mean they will be turfed out of government part way through a historic fourth term? Your enthusiasm exceeds your political knowledge - thus making you a natural laboureen candidate...

It is possible to do both. If you think what the USA does on the international stage politically has no affect on us than you may need to look at whats behind our fluctuating fuel prices. Which are trending down at the moment so everyone should be praising our government- right?See, I can think about politics in more than one country...

Id be happy if the government let landlords claim the fitting of insulation as a maintenance expense rather than classing as an improvement and while theyre at it - stop the nonsense where replacing a rotten single glazed wooden window with a single glazed aluminium window is tax deductible as maintenance but replacing it with a double glazed aluminium window isnt tax deductible as its regarded as an improvement...

McCains stance on this was more about them not having a better alternative at the time, so he was really trying to save trump from reneging on one of his campaign promises to replace the ACA with something better for ALL Americans...

Classic trump, only too happy to take the credit for anything that paints the economy in a good light. But absolutely no acknowledgement that his failed foreign policy in the Middle East is the main reason oil prices are so high. Of course high petrol/ Home heating oil prices arent going to concern trump or anyone relatively rich enough to benefit from his tax cuts. No, once again its the workers who have to make their wages stretch further...

Yet when National wanted to raise tax thresholds to offset â˜band creep that was given a big thumbs down from labreens like yourself. The biggest issue I see with spending money and time on a CGT is that it relies on house prices rising constantly to generate enough tax income to make it worth while at a time when the governments actions are attempting (and in some instances succeeding) to implement changes to cause a long overdue reduction in house prices. Its only fair too if you are taxing the profit made on an investment property that you give tax credits for any loses made on the sale of those properties, that might be a plus for property investors but would mean that when the economy falters, the government would lose even more tax income...

His tweet, his choice of words and victim - no manipulation required. You, like so many trumpkins give him way too much credit for things that were in place BEFORE his election and dont acknowledging the things that would have happened if any other Republican had won the presidency. You also wont point out his failures - He is loosing the trade war he started, bigly and created a nightmare of bureaucracy for those trying to get exemptions from tariffs (specialised steel for surgical implants for example) He campaigned on reducing Americas debt and has instead (thanks to tax cuts for the rich) made it way worse, the media is pretty much giving him a free pass on this...

Utter bull dust - Google how the various news agencies reacted to Obama's historic discussions with Cuba. trumpkins have this belief that Obama always had it easy with the media and that the MSM would go easier on a Democrat POTUS. This just isn't correct. There is a lot more fact checking of trump and his administration, but that is due to a greater number of lies and mistruths that require checking. What I'm finding interesting is that the normally trump friendly Fox ˜news' are starting to challenge the trump administration occasionally now...

This got me thinking, âIs it considered â˜Vegan to use a service dog? (Guide, hearing dog etc) And it would appear this is something hardcore vegans loose sleep over. Good on people for thinking about what they eat but to not acknowledge the life changing work these animals do, often giving their owners a whole new level of independence with increased safety just isnt right to me...

I think I might have figured out trumps confusion about Russia. Thank back to the movie â˜Hunt for Red October where Alec Baldwin stars as the CIA analyst Jack Ryan. Clearly trumps dislike for Baldwin has affecting his thinking and he believes Russia good - CIA & USA bad. Plus the Russian captain is played by Sean Connery, who is Scottish - just like trumps mum...

Yeah Im pretty sure Hollywood â˜Elite â˜idealist Rob Reiner has heard of Archie Bunker. You really need to rewatch these shows if you think they were all about promoting racial stereotypes and werent trying to promote a message of tolerance or challenging the status quo. All in the Family even dealt with sexual assault way back when that was a taboo subject and there was no #metoo movement...

So if I save up and get some solar panels installed to reduce my power bill, does that make me a bad person? Is it not ok anymore to use your money wisely to reduce the cost of your electricity bill by paying promptly. Fees for going into overdraft on your cheque account no doubt also effect those on a lower income more as does credit card interest rates. Id be ok with those two additional expenses being â˜banned...

The reality is the agreement that was signed isn't as specific or restrictive as an Apple iTunes user agreement! It was more of a win for Kim, he got trump to make the concessions and in return gave a vague ˜commitment' to denuclearise but with no real specifics. Also Republicans slammed Obama for not saying more about humanitarian issues when he had his historic Cuba meeting, but seem fine with nothing in writing about this from trumpkim...

They shouldnt be treated any differently to anyone else seeking asylum. Other than in most cases they can speak English, they still have the potential to put a strain on our already struggling social and medical aid services and can in some cases bring attitudes and â˜baggage from their past life that doesnt fit well with New Zealand life. All immigrants to our country need to be screened more rigorously if anything and we shouldnt be afraid to deport immigrants that dont measure up just like Australia and the USA do...

The biggest promise he has failed on was his promise to reduce the USAs crippling debt. He has made it bigger instead. And the media that were happy to take Obama to task about the increasing debt â˜mountain when he was POTUS are now mostly all quiet. He also promised never to take a vacation while he was president. Just another lie...

Overnight makes the most sense - its when demand is at its lowest and hydro dams still have to let water through and wind generation doesnt stop at night if its windy - its not electric cars you should be panicking about its the relentless push to get people to give up fires for heat pumps thats putting a steady ever increasing load on our power networks with the added strain of them being able to be used for cooling in summertime...

Any person regardless of who they are and what country they live in - that claims bankruptcy for themselves or the businesses they created and then ends up solvent again later on with plenty of money that makes no attempt to repair the lives of the people left out of pocket isnt someone to be trusted. Never ceases to amaze me this particular trait of most people who are now rich but havent righted their past wrongs and how that is ignored in the whole Hero worshipping of any failed entrepreneur that manages to â˜beat the odds and become successful again. trump is far from the only one like this, but one of the worst as he has managed to profit from the bankruptcy of at least one of his business... So the timing of this release is critical, but the timing of the release of another investigation into those HRC / Democrats emails the week before the 2016 US elections wasnt critical and trumpkins can some how spin it to show the FBI were biased towards trump? Around and round we go...

I went to primary school many years ago with a kid called Sean, But you said his name as ˜Seen' not as ˜Shaun' not only did that create a lot of confusion at school, but caused me some issues thinking that other Sean's also had their names pronounced the same way. ( Fortunately he didn't have a sister called Siobhan :-) )

Now hows that debt to GDP going? Is Americas debt trending down like trump said it would on the campaign trail? Why did trumpkins only worry about the USAs growing debt when Obama was president and dont even acknowledge that the USAs already massive debt is still increasing in no small part to the tax cuts for the rich and having to bale out Soya bean farmers due to his â˜easy to win tariff war...

Do smokers not drive cars? The point is both these forms of physical pollution (old gum and cigarette butts) are caused by lazy inconsiderate people I fail to see any hypocrisy in that. You can ad to that the smokers who dump their disposable cigarette lighters and empty match boxes, cigarette packets, tobacco pouches, and â˜rolly paper packets. For the amount of old gum you see there isnt a corresponding amount of empty chewing gum packets dropped on the ground, thankfully...

Do you see a pattern here, Obama provides a birth certificate after being dogged by trump, Warren gets a DNA test and makes the results public after being dogged by trump. (1) trump claims the media are biased, yet they all give him a platform and have for decades.(2) there has been many requests for trump to produce his tax returns, but still nothing from him, October 15th was the last date he deferred to and that has now passed...What have we learnt from this? Obama was born in the USA, Warren has undeniably got some Native American DNA, while trump is still a tax avoiding fraud...(It should be noted that trump was quick to prove he wasnt fathered by an Orangutan when he got played so well by Bill Maher in a running gag that still upsets those â˜snowflakes like hannity...

And yet you cant see that trump won the election in no small part thanks to Comeys timing of the announcement of the reopening of the investigation into the emails and by the unprecedented number of voters who voted for the other 3 people running for president because they just couldnt handle the thought of trump or HRC. Almost 7,000,000 voters, yet trump and trumpkins never acknowledge this or the fact he is meant to be a Republican and represent THEIR beliefs and ideals...

Cigarettes aren't a good example. They are stolen because they are easy to sell. NOT simply because people can't afford to buy them. It's the same for alcohol... There is know doubt cases of shoplifting born from desperation but I wouldn't think those people end up in prison?

Not really an â˜OMG moment in American history. There are plenty I can think of. The Kent State Massacre is one of the darkest days in Americas history as far as evidence of anything resembling a police state. Using the National Guard to fire on unarmed students, including some that werent even involved in any protest is beyond justification...

Outbursts of violence like this has sadly always been part of Americas existence, regardless of whos in power. (Id be genuinely interested if anyone can tell me which major political party has the most violent protests while in power, Im thinking Republicans, due to the huge amount of civil unrest during the Vietnam war.)But to put this into perspective, look at the violence and destruction that was the aftermath of the Philadelphia Eagles winning the Super Bowl! You cant tell me that was political...

Humour, or at least attempts at humour is one of our coping mechanisms for dealing with death as part of being a human is the awareness of our own mortality, The other coping mechanism is trying to rationalise someones death, with questions like; how old were they? He is not doing the âbest he canâ. He could tweet less, he could listen to his often knowledgeable experienced aides. He could spend the time he watches fox and friends on learning more about the various trade deals the US is in and why they are important. He could spend less time campaigning and regurgitating lies/ conspiracy theories to his base, less time worrying about ratings, more time worrying about US citizens...

Current EV batteries are only around 7% lithium and where lithium is extracted from are areas with little or no organic life, so the environmental impact is negligible compared to the extraction of oil. And why all the hand wringing over lithium extraction for EV batteries when you Are happily using lithium in your smart devices batteries, laptop batteries, power tool batteries, and you can even buy disposable batteries with lithium?Where is your same concern for all the used air, oil, and fuel filters that go into landfill every day from the servicing of ICEVs?Hydrogen is showing potential overseas for trains, but the amount of electricity required to produce it doesnt make it a viable option for cars at this stage, but there are great largely unreported changes happening to the humble combustion engine that are showing promise for improving fuel economy. Nissan have a working variable compression engine for example. This sort of technology has the potential to keep ICEVs on the roads for a few more years...

@Camsauce, I suggest you do some research on the often misquoted story of the mandatory gun ownership in Kennesaw (1) It is not enforced (gun ownership is around 50% of households in Kennesaw(2) It isnt the safest city in the US its only safer than 39% of cities in the USA according to the crime index. 1 out of every 762 people in Kennesaw are victims of violent crime. So 61% of US cities are safer than Kennesaw.(3) Most of Americas gun deaths are self inflicted- this town isnt exempt from that
