Its certainly impolite, but not illegal. The problem is, if you draw a line - where do you draw the line? For example, if I film my kids playing sports, and happen to also film other kids playing - would that be OK or not? There are an infinite range of social contexts to crop up, and legislation simply cant cater for them all.

Every PM since the dark ages has had the same criticism and pressure. Even JA probably doesnt expect it to be any different. If it was, then she would be being treated with kid gloves. Which would be demeaning. If shes right for the job, she will deal with it and advance her agenda regardless.

Henry, it was DEFINITELY them. I realise that the media took a certain slant when reporting their request (which was more about preferably, give us meat or cash rather than chickpeas) - but you cant just expunge the fact from the record. Google doesnt allow it.

Curran might certainly be forgiven her transgressions if they were purely based on bad luck. But they were more competence-based. She just didnt get the messages, or take notice of the warning shots. I dont think anyone in Labour would rush to bring her back... unless they wanted a lame duck to draw fire away from other ministers!

Miriam-Webster also apparently has this to say about Egalitarianism:According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the term has two distinct definitions in modern English:[5] either as a political doctrine that all people should be treated as equals and have the same political, economic, social and civil rights;[6] or as a social philosophy advocating the removal of economic inequalities among people, economic egalitarianism, or the decentralization of power. Some sources define egalitarianism as the point of view that equality reflects the natural state of humanity.Sounds like the same sort of concept. Maybe Verity should let people choose their own words rather than insist on using her preferred ones.

If there is one thing modern society does consistently, it is seek to reduce risks - to zero if possible. Even in situations where it may not make sense. So the author shouldnt be surprised if potential mentors look at even a small risk, consider the reward (probably none or close to for many mentor/mentee relationships) and choose not to go there.Actions and reactions!

That is exactly why it isnt a great article. It doesnt transcend labels at all. It looks to put the authors label of choice on standard behaviour. And then say that if you dont agree, you dont have a heart. Counterproductive at best.

How is keeping a public report under lock and key dirty politics?Did you know that Efeso Collins, one of the signatories of that letter has run for Parliament as a Labour MP?Cathy Casey (who also signed) used to be the partner of Matt McCarten. You know, the Labour stalwart. I guess its possible she is a closet Nat, but I doubt it.Goff seems to be upsetting people from across the political spectrum. Arent you curious as to why this is? Or is it just easier to give an ill-researched factional response?

I dont think any of the mistakes by ministers have been hanging offences (maybe with the exception of Shane Jones and his sticking his nose into everything). But she certainly hasnt drawn a line in the sand re expected standards. So things will get worse!

I think the investigating Police have admitted that there are a range of factors at play in this crash. Speed will probably be one of them, but it may not even be the most important.Lets wait for the results of the investigation before using this accident to push a preconceived agenda.

I guess we could give our kids tea.... that could work.Or, as the Woodsman says, water.Milk has nutritional value. Coke really doesnt. Its no substitute for milk at all. It is better to have nothing (or water) than to have coke. Parents who buy coke rather than giving their child a glass of water ARE lazy.

Clean energy like wind, solar, and hydro have no fuel costs, so once built they are much cheaper to run.Yes, once built. They are expensive to build and maintain. And that cost gets amortised over the lifetime of the powerplant and passed on in power costs. You can actually say the same about nuclear power plants. Once built, they are cheap to run (but expensive to decommission).Sorry Greenpeace, I see this article as being outside your brief. And your expertise too.

I dont know much about the agreement in question, and dont approve of trying to hush up things like this. Better to expose and fire the person concerned But I doubt the woman was forced to sign the agreement. Betray Kiwi women as a headline is a little overblown.
