Commercial leaders will need more than a speech from the Ms Ardern Labour coalition. Commerce will be seeking motivational and inspirational assurances from a qualified, authoritative leader. If there is a magic theory, it needs to be shared and sold. Business will not be persuaded on news that Ms Ardern is proud of what is being achieved. Commerce will be looking for arguments of substance. That has been rather short in much of Ms Arderns coalition announcements to date.

Deeply saddening to read. It reminds me yet again how much hardship is endured by pensioner couples who have no other income. The couple living near me have had to put off replacement hearing aids for him, one has broken glasses frames, medical expenses eat into any spare cash and they have to be so frugal. No trips, no shows, they live in real poverty as per the recognised definition. Why not drop the taxation on their meagre income?Maybe we are seeing a good case for making the first $20k income as tax free for all folk?

I have to correct the statement that half a lifetime ago Maori were beaten for their language and tikanga. That is rubbish. Almost 40 years ago corporal punishment was abolished in all schools. But punishment for Maori culture was absolutely unheard of except for the generation well before that abolition and who had attended Native Schools. Check to see when the last one closed. Officially, particularly in education, Maori has been valued and celebrated for a generous full human lifetime in NZ.

But it was never intended to be a device to enslave or coerce others who may wish to politely confine themselves to living within their own sincerely held beliefs. What harm if some folk wish to retain conservative or traditional views as long as those folk avoid demanding that the world be like them? Kiwis have always followed the mantra of live and let live. This would make an interesting test case on a constitutional principle. Liberty regarding belief and philosophy is just as important as protecting against unjustified discrimination.

Deeply saddening to read. It reminds me yet again how much hardship is endured by pensioner couples who have no other income. The couple living near me have had to put off replacement hearing aids for him, one has broken glasses frames, medical expenses eat into any spare cash and they have to be so frugal. So instead of striking, come on educators, work together for once and withdraw all contibutions and work on Hipkins hobby project. Have nothing to do with any part of it until you are satisfied with conditions. This will mean that some big-ego educators will need to act more professionally in harmony with their peers. Cant see that happening. Thats why they are so poorly paid.

But it was never intended to be a device to enslave or coerce others who may wish to politely confine themselves to living within their own sincerely held beliefs. What harm if some folk wish to retain conservative or traditional views as long as those folk avoid demanding that the world be like them? Kiwis have always followed the mantra of live and let live. This would make an interesting test case on a constitutional principle. Liberty regarding belief and philosophy is just as important as protecting against unjustified discrimination.
