I think those figures are going to change dramatically over the next 10 - 20 years, when hoards of people hit retirement without a paid off house, or renting. Good luck living on just the pension only then!
For all of these reasons, Im so glad we sold out of residential rentals and went in to commercial. Havent encountered any of these problems since then, as its a much more balanced and professional relationship between landlords and tenants. The returns leave residential rentals in the dust. Never looked back
Totally agree - I have the same issues. ACC is brilliant in slow crawling traffic below 20kph but as soon as you get above that, the safe gap correctly increases but then some muppett charges into the gap, causing ACC to panic and slam on the brakes
Exactly. When fuel prices skyrocket, these poor buggers bear the brunt of it directly. Its not their fault and they have to pay the same prices themselves.
This describes exactly what is happening everywhere now in many companies and organisations - including mine. In the last 1 - 2 years the employee / employer relationship has deteriorated significantly and we are just starting to see the results of that now

I had a number of rentals too, sold em all 12+ years ago for the same reasons and reinvested in commercial. Best decision I ever made.
