My childs primary school has a second language as part of their learning. From years 1-3 they learn the basics of a language, (a different language per year) plus important facts about that culture, currency, food, etc. Come Year 4 they get to choose to continue on, more in depth, with one of those languages for the continuation of their primary schooling. In addition to this, every single day the day of the week is displayed in their classroom in both English & Maori. I have no problem with my child learning the basics of Maori, (greetings, days, colours, counting) but Im thankful her school also recognizes the importance of teaching the children a second language, beneficial if they should travel or enter the business world!

Was on an international flight on Sunday night with the worst bunch of children I have ever encountered! My own 8 year old sat quietly, slept, read & watched a movie, while it seemed every other kid screamed, kicked seats, & ran up & down the aisles.
