Her daughter is now 20 so she doesnt even have any dependents so in effect her circumstances have changed meaning she no longer qualifies for this house under her initial contract. What has she done to plan ahead for herself and moving on?. It is simply not economical to allow HNZ tenants to stay forever when we have a housing shortage. This woman has had her time,now its time to move on.

Maori is already compulsary at primary and intermediate level,so kids should then have a choice whether continue with it or not at high school level.Just like any other subject it comes down to you using it when you leave school and it you dont there is not point in doing it.

One of them has to rent out her rooms to be able to afford the rates of 5k a year and she does not have a flash lifestyle. She can barely afford her car insurance, or buying a fridge full of healthy food as the profit on renting those rooms is quite small. There is only enough at the end of it all to pay everything including water and power even though there is no mortgage and she still has to have people living with her which is annoying sometimes. Neither of them have any money and they worked very hard as teachers back in the 70s to 90s both their husbands left them at different times,so they were left paying off mortgages and raising little children on their own on quite small salaries.I dont know how they did it really.
Even the prisoners get treated better than the elderly here. They get free accommodation,medical care, student loans no recoverable and anything else they need for free all in a nice underfloor heated complex.
