Yes, my golf club is very small and we have strict rules we have to follow. With dwindling ,membership, if the license is lost we go under, simple as that. The Police have been around several times (undercover) and fortunately they were refused service. If one of our volunteer staff had served a beer to a police officer or council person who is not a member of the club, we would be gone.

Rushing the baggage carousel? Nah, but if you are perched right by the carousel and my bag is coming by, I will reach in and politely say Excuse Me and drag by bag away. If you, or your trolley, or your kids are in the way of my bag, not my problem.I had one woman complain when my bag dragged her trolley a bit, but she looked rather sheepish when I said quite loudly Well if you left your trolley behind line like the sign says, there would be room for everyone

Cycle lanes are great, both rural like the proposed one, or urban ones. I have one of Christchurchs 13 major cycleways going passed my house, mind you, I bought the house when it was already constructed. More cycles go down our street than cars do. Every morning between 7:30 and 8:30 there is a constant flow of bikes, each one representing one less car on the road. Same thing between 4:30 and 6:00 in the evening. The roadway itself is narrow, when cars are parked it is basically a single lane, encouraging cars to go a different route than down our back-street. It also has a 40km speed limit, but that makes sense given the narrowness. I love it.On rubbish collection days, you can see the frustration of those motorists using our street as a shortcut when they get stuck behind a rubbish truck, easily adds 15 minutes onto their commute. Meanwhile, the bikes just breeze on by. Amazing how long a rubbish truck takes to go down a 200m road. Also, its much nicer to see fit and healthy people cycling, than smelly noisy cars. And, occasionally I use the cycle lane, who would have thought it?

In the 10 years 2007-2016 there were 86 cyclists killed, 330 pedestrians killed, 461 motorcyclists killed. Its only a matter of time before we get a death on one of these scooters, either by being run over by a motor vehicle or running into something. Then there will be an up-roar, THEY MUST WEAR HELMETS BECAUSE CYCLISTS HAVE TO!! Out will come the fun police. Most countries dont have helmets compulsory on bikes, that doesnt mean you cant wear one if you want.

Saw a prime example of 5. in Paris, a women standing in front of a large round window getting her hubby to take many many photos, while at least 50 people waited patiently to take a photo of the view through the window. After a short break she came back for more. Most people just grumbled, but I let her know in no uncertain terms that we are all waiting. I dont even think they could understand English, but the avalanche of GET OUT OF THE WAY in several languages, with waving hands, her husband realised they had finished.

I know someone who saw a scooter left out and put it away for safe keeping so no-one would steal it, wondered why it beeped loudly when he moved it. Had to explain to him that leaving it out is the entire purpose, so others can use it.

@apronstrings most people call in sick last minute, most people dont know they are going to be sick the day before it happens. Are you saying that if you wake up and have a stomach bug or bad cold, you should still go to work and (in the case of BK) serve people while you are sick?More reason not to go to BK

So an autopsy showed it was 1080 poisoning? Or was it from another disease that seagulls carry? Or was it like eating raw chicken, salmonella or e.coli? But hey, dont let facts get in the way of a good story.

Just moved from Avonhead to Addington, just 300m from Moorhouse Ave. We would have moved into city, but the new apartments they are building (I think its called the East frame ) were not ready when we wanted to move.Could have gone down to one car, used my e-bike more, but Fletchers were too slow. Over 7 years since the city quakes, far too long to get their act together

Just relax, my superannuation fund (dont have KiwiSaver) went down over $11k in October, but it will bounce back. On the bright side, the few dollars that I save each week gets to buy more units at a lower price. Think its called dollar cost averaging, or some term like that. Unless you desperately need to withdraw all your super right now, dont panic.

Arent we all immigrants? Just that some of us came here 3,4 or 5 generations ago. Imagine what that would have been like, in the 1860s or 1870s, leaving a place like London, a fully functioning city, coming to NZ where they had to provide everything themselves, very basic living.

Google have been collecting data about you, your web browsing history, tracking where you go, what you search for, thats why when you search for golf you suddenly get an avalanche of golf adverts. You might get a shock. For example, if you have been overseas recently, have a look at the red dots on the map www.google.com/maps/timeline. Shows where you have been, every time you take a photo with GPS turned on, every time you connect to a public wifi network.

Yes, everyones power goes up in the winter, heaters and heat pumps turned on and for longer, lights on longer.Maybe they should vary the amount according to where you live too, the winterless north receiving less than those in the cold dark south??? Just kidding

Youre working for the wrong company. I work for an IT company, people who do the same job get the same pay. Some of the highest salaries are earned by women, because they are team leaders who have risen to the top.And multinational. At one point we had more than 50% non-NZ born staff, currently 35% but that is about to change as we are in the middle of hiring more staff and the top applicants are all non-NZ born people.Doesnt matter what sex or nationality, if they can do the job and they are entitled to work in NZ, we will hire them.

The Labour (with a U) Dept is known as the Labour Inspectorate is within the MBIE. They must follow strict rules and can only investigate when a complaint is made. They cannot set up sting operations, its not within their rules. The easy answer, make a complaint!!

So, if they go on strike for 2 years, no-one will notice??I bet the employers who pay minimum wages will notice, and will pay less than minimum knowing that they wont get charged for any offences. So those on or near minimum wages will notice. And if you dont get your statutory 4 weeks holiday, and there is no-one to complain to, you will notice..And when Auckland needs more builders, no-one will be able to process visas for people coming here to work on new houses or new infrastructure. And when you twist your ankle, and need ACC to pay for your visit to the doctor or physio, they will make you pay for the whole lot because ACC wont be able to reimburse your doctor, who will notice then? And when you think you might be due a tax refund, and IRD cant process it, will you notice?

Tried playing golf at some places around the world? Become a member of a golf club in NZ, play all year round for $500. Go overseas and some places wont even let you walk on the grass for $500.

@ Kathy George, thats because if they have just done a drop, its because there are likely to be pests, if there are pests then therefore there are no birds. Come back in a year and have a listen.

Maybe a stadium that is multi purpose, soccer, league, rugby, concerts. Wait, that is what is proposed. Not one stadium for each code. There might have been bigger crowds than the Crusaders, but if league was here every week, would they get the same numbers?

We were away 2 weeks ago when the recycling bin was due to be emptied, needless to say the bin was full, so I went and deposited a few (cleaned) bottles and (neatly folded) cardboard into other half empty bins last night. Thanks to my neighbours who has some spare space. Oh, and I hear the truck going outside now, so the bins are now empty and they are none the wiser.

Looking on Google maps, initially the distance from Therese St to Cashmere is 1.4 and to Hillmorton is 2.5.The map markers for those schools were not very accurate, Cashmere was showing as Rose St and stopping there, Hillmorton shows as having to walk the entire distance through the school. After adjusting the markers to realistic and comparative destinations, the distance from the middle of Therese St to Cashmere is 1.6 and to Hillmorton is 2.2, so only 600m difference. This difference would drop to 400 if measured from 40 Therese St (1.7 vs 2.1)But hey, dont let facts get in the way of a good story.

Kids playing in a bunk room, a fall from the top bunk, head banged on floor, the outcome was not good. The owners now have a 2 inch thick sponge-rubber covering on their floor, similar to what you find in a playground.
