So I see the writer of this article does not value the people who work at the day care center and believe that they should work for free every time parents are late to pick up their children. Apparently all of these employees have no life and should be completely subservient to the parents of the children they watch. It is NOT just you who is late. I would be every day at least one parent is late, by more than 30 minutes as well. It is a business. These people need to get home to their own families and every minute they have to wait for parents impacts of that family. Dont give me that I feel bad enough crap. How do you think these employees feel each and every day they have to wait for late parents. Also, in what universe does this person think that there is a 10 minute late rule?

Whether or not YOU believe it is creepy is not the question. There are many girls her age that become pregnant. Children her age have been having babies since the humans have been humans.

What does the writer want? People who have scrimped, saved, worked many jobs at the same time, didnt take holidays, worked their way up the ladder, didnt have children or elected not to have a herd of them, to now pay for you and those like you? Is this what you are eluding to. That somehow, the government, using all of tax dollars, buy you a house so you dont have to worry about this? I bet you want to have no mortgage as well. Where I feel for the situation, there has to be some kind of personal responsibility. You decided to have many children. I did not own a home until I was over 40 and it was hard. Please, please, please stop with these stories.

So 1. I cant believe they want us to feel sorry for them. No one forced them to get the big mortgage, the big cars, to buy that coffee every morning, that muffin at morning tea, lunch out, dinner and drinks with friends, etc. At some point, people need to take responsibility for their own actions and stop blaming everything and everyone, but themselves.

+23−3

Not only that, we pay for morning teas, lunches, afternoon teas, dinners. This is NOT a business and I dont care what they do in other businesses. These people make enough, bring your own and stop having tax payers pay for it. Also, NO MORE JUNKETS. They dont ever learn anything from it anyway, it is just a free trip for them and their latest squeeze. They can skype or its equivalent..

The Nats always turn on this rubbish. They had a chance to be more like the good things that OZ has to offer, like forcing Kiwisaver onto everyone and forcing it at a higher percentage and they did NOT. Also, OZs markets are slower than ours, their taxes are much higher and if a Kiwi wants to move there they have zero safety net, zero. Dont be fooled by some illogical Nat rhetoic, it sounds more like Donald Trump

There is NO way we can be like Europe with long term renters until we make people (tenants) accountable for their actions (bad actions). No, not all renters are like that in NZ, however we have a disproportionate amount of educated people who treat their rentals like crap. I rented for 5 years and then purchased a property that had a rental unit on it and we rented it out. It was much cheaper do rent occasionally on airbnb, then get longer term NZ renters. Most never, ever opened the windows, they all took the batteries out of the fire alarms, they never turned on the towel heaters or used the heaters we provided and cleaning, well, what can I say other than I dont how they lived like that. It took me 2 full time weeks to prep the unit for other renters each time. Unacceptable.

Buying bras every 6 months is a rort to get people to purchase more often and drive sales. There is zero evidence to base that on. Possibly if you wore the same bra everyday and washed it everyday for 6 months. However, I have bras I wear 4 or 5 times a year. I am NOT going to throw them out anytime soon. How ridiculous.

The secrecy is always a problem and has borne out that most of them go way over budget, are given to unqualified contractors (that are usually family) and that has to be redone in a couple of years because of shoddy workmanship, with more taxpayer money with no one taking any responsibility and no criminal charges filed. It always ends badly, at the expense of the taxpayer.

Unless you actually make sure that bad tenants pay for their damage and loud parties, etc, then reform does not work. It has to be fair on both sides. Unfortunately, New Zealand has a culture of many tenants doing damage and not paying rent, because they know they can get away with it and also the government does not get tough with poorly built homes that leak, rotten and mouldy. Until we have houses that are built properly and maintained and tenants who know that they cannot rent a place and stop paying rent, then we are in a holding pattern where no one wins.

$71 is not the 1 cost. Most people dont have time to forage for fire wood, own and service a chain saw, etc. For me, my time is more important and cooking on top of a wood burner would not work for me. Good on them, but their way does not work for some people.

+21−6

Yep. So much money wasted, no one has taken any responsibility. They are just taking the poor rate payers to court to make them pay for it, without any counselors going to jail. There is no real justice in this country. Our laws are without teeth, our judges refuse to give maximum penalties, if you are white, and/or moneyed up, you either get a discharge without conviction or a slap on the wrist. Every government has had the chance to change it, but has been a coward.

This is the problem with NZ, it has wishy washy laws that are based in 1910 when there were not many people and you didnt act like an asshat and get away with it. Today, so many parents dont care. They let their children run up and down isles, throw food at adults, run into servers with other peoples food and then complain to the server to watch where they are going, they act like monkeys who havent been out of their cage for months in art galleries and museums and the parents do nothing. They scream incessantly and the parents to nothing. I do not paint all parents in this light, as there are those who actually act like parents, but so many just seem to think that whatever their child does is great and there are zero consequences to their bad behaviour, ever.We need more laws to not only protect others things but to allow more stores and restaurants and galleries latitude to make them child free.

It is our body and it should not be so difficult to get rid of our wombs. I never, ever wanted children and knew quite young. Finally I was able to get it removed. It is stupid. We work, we have money and we own it. If we want to get rid of it, let us.

Any other stadiums in NZ are dumb and a complete waste of money. But putting one downtown is the stupidest of all stupid ideas. The amount of money it would cost to maintain it would be eye watering, also, there would be no views where the stadium stood, the traffic and parking would be a nightmare, and most of all, we dont need another white elephant stadium taking up valuable land, being used 7 or 8 times a year. And dont go on about concerts, as it is never going to happen unless it is completely soundproofed and covered as there are so many $5 million plus apartments down there, no way is that going to happen. Nobody in NZ seems to think about multi use stadiums, for rugby, league, cricket, soccer and athletics, with adequate parking structures that are many levels high and near a motorway with several ways in which to access and exit.

Just so were are clear, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SUSTAINABLE KWILA. Every time we use kwila, we are destroying forests. All of the paperwork is worthless. Repeat after me, there is no such thing as sustainable kwila. That product does not exist.

These issues do NOT stem from low income homes. That is a fallacy. Drugs, alcoholism, violence is every bit as prevalent in high income, high earning, high stress families. Spousal abuse and control happens just as often in upperclass/high income families. Zero discipline happens in lots of high income families. They are the children that get away with it at school from the dont you know who I am parents and dont you know how much money I donate to the school parents.

Calling and complaining every time you have to either be late to work, because you cannot get your car out is silly. Just put in lines and have the towing companies come by on a regular basis and tow these idiots. AT doesnt care about that or anything else for that matter.

+10−0

Tell me Orionz, what are the associated costs and what do you consider abuse? There are far more associated costs with alcohol and its abuse and most people also get mean and start fights, they drive drunk at high speeds and kill people, etc. So drinking is definitely a much, much, much higher cost to society as a whole.

The ingredients are the key here and also the additives. The better the ingredients, the more expensive the bread. Also, some breads need starters and to rise more than once. If you want cheaper bread, make it yourself. You dont need a bread maker as we all have hands. If you make it yourself using good quality ingredients, then it is cheap as chips.

+11−2

Really? Do you think that people with money dont have kids and dont take them on flights? Of course they do, and they care the least about what you think about their screaming child, kicking the back of your seat, running up and down the aisles screaming while others are trying to sleep.

+8−0

Yes, however who is going to enforce it? Already people go 100 kph on Queen Street and Victoria at times, they run red lights with impunity, jump the curb to park on the sidewalk full of people illegally, block driveways, businesses doors, park on yellow lines and no one cares. No cops pull them over, no cops give them tickets, they walk on by looking instead to hassle the homeless or go to lunch.

You obviously do NOT know how insurance works. Each and every piece of damage will incur a deductible. In NZ, the smallest deductible you can get is $500. If the damage is severe, each stain or damage to the carpet will incur a $500 deductible, each hole in the wall, a $500 deductible, each light fitting, a $500 deductible, each tile that is damaged, a $500 deductible. Get the picture?

+8−1

Yarblockos, you cannot force owners to rent their houses to anyone. Already, when renters completely ruin a rental, there is zero backlash and the insurance does not pay out, as each and every issue comes with at least a $500 deductible.

+9−2

To 1. All you have to do it look at everyone buying coffee and all of those paying for their lunches every day and having drinks after work and on the weekends. It is so very expensive. Also, please dont try and tell me that they need that little special treat every day. No, you dont actually.

So who cares how much protein is in almond milk? Do we talk about the lack of protein in water and gator aid? I think not. Also, I dont want something taken apart and put back together again that has been made in a lab to eat or drink. If others do, that is fine. But it must be labelled so that the rest of us can be informed as to what not to buy.

Thrown out of the industry? Really? In New Zealand where most people dont get prosecuted, most white collar criminals get discharge without conviction, or a conviction with zero consequences. For goodness sake, we have monitored criminals committing more crimes. This is a wishy washy country with very little rules and most of those rules have either no consequences or a slap on the wrist with a wet bus ticket. It is quite embarrassing when a convicted criminals gets so little home detention and then corrections lets him leave the country, in the middle of his pitifully short home detention, to see his daughter get married on a private Greek Island.

+6−2

Really? And then National did soooo much to make it better. NOT. Also, where do you think all of these hand outs come from? A money tree. It comes from each and every tax payer and those tax payers who save for many, many years to get into a house and now you want to make a mockery of those who did save and work 2 or more jobs at a time give people a house. Unfortunately, we need more people moving out of Auckland and more affordable housing. But that takes time, like 5 to 10 years of planning for housing, schools, roads, services, sewage, waste water, etc. It also takes lots and lots and lots of money.

+9−5

So now this farmer will go through 10+ new employees each year who will leave well before training. Good job Immigration NZ, that is out tax money well spent, NOT. I find it unfathomable how government employees are completely unable to actually use their brains.
