I love the idea of pay rises however there will be a huge flow on effect. I will want a pay rise if I am paid the same as a burger flipper but then the person above me will want a pay rise for parity. Then prices go up and we will want more pay. Some hospo places are borderline now and will hit the wall. Coffee, burgers and meals will go up in price and so will a lot of things at supermarkets etc. The good thing is if they keep benefits lower then there is real incentive to work, if there is not a rise in unemployment as a result of said flow on effect. Mind you they plan for this to happen in 2020 and it will be Nationals problem and they will have to put up taxes to pay for the other BS you mention anyway.
Oh great answer, make business more confident by giving them yet another tax cut. National party politics 101.Even better, lets try to cut wages, and get back to bashing the unions. Business profits trump social issues caused by neo-liberalism every time.
The timing might have been unfair, but barely 48 hours after Jacinda Arderns reset speechyeah sure, like that poll was taken the same day it was published was it? Rubbish, it was probably taken before she made her speech. It;s not very honest of Yardley and Duncan Garner to parrot this line that this survey result was a vote on her speech.
More whining by a disgruntled National supporter. Attack the government any way you can, real, imagined, delusional or simply grossly exaggerated. Cutting taxes is always the prescription, at least you pay a bit of lip service to raising wages, sometime in 2021. Meanwhile those working at the low end of wages can continue to struggle.
Yeah right, cutting tax, who pays for it? Not the wealthy fat cats who will benefit, it is just robbing Peter to pay Paul
