Children in full meltdown mode can test you like you never thought possible

Ha ha.... True its like a roller-coaster ride when they are very young, albeit one taken in the dark and at full speed. Of course children around this age are still learning how to regulate and express themselves, as well as checking where the parameters are in what they can and cant get away with and what works best to stealthily get what they want... BUT you will get those 3-4 years of reasonable calm eventually only to buy a ticket on the latest fairground ride TEENAGERS! Lol.

I couldnt finish reading this. Lady, you need to stop indulging your boy. There are just the two of us so I have to be both parents all the time. I dont have the time or mental energy to indulge bad behaviour. YOU are the parent and what you say goes. My daughter also gets warnings that we need to leave soon when shes singing instead of eating her breakfast. Or playing while Im getting ready. If an attempted tantrum ensues when its time to go and shes not finished or forget a toy for the car rude, I explain that she was told it was time to go soon. She didnt want breakfast the other day but said she was hungry on the way to school (a 25 min drive). Told her she had to wait until she got to school. Your child is making choices and he needs to understand that those choices have consequences. Cause and effect. Youre letting him do as he wants and making life hard for yourself. Shut it down hun. x

Its hard when its you trying to deal with the same fights all day every day, and you know that youre going to be going back round again tomorrow. Hang in there.I do the timer thing with my kids, too. (Sometimes it helps. ;-) )

I think what you are describing is a tantrum not a meltdown.
