These cars are over 40 years old now. You have to compare them to what was around at the time. When you do that they were actually pretty damn good performers for the money spent.
I dont even like Toranas, but that black SLR is pretty sweet...
That XB GT is a beaut
And you know nothing about them. As one is a Ford.
I can assure you it was no viva. I owned a viva, my first car and not even close to a Torana.
Rubbish - The Viva was a thoroughly competent little saloon, like the Escort way ahead of the BLMC offerings (and I speak as someone who still has a soft spot for most of their sports cars, however flawed); and it wouldnt be hard to be better than the bench-seated aussie barges.and a big engine in in a small car has always been a great recipe for performance fun.
That SL/R though...
Long before the days of the Daewoo Holdens that we have today
Get back in yer Daewoo....
good luck finding one not full of body maggot (rust)
Even rather quick and smart by todays standards!!
It had the Viva roof thats all
Sweet until you put it up against a 265 Hemi with triple Webers on it.
I like the shape of the Torana - at the time most cars were acutely rectangular with sharp right angles everywhere. Its a standout design of the era. There were others - some of the Triumphs were stunning (loved my Stag) but as everyone knows - Triumphs tended to lose bits every time you went over a bump in the road and rotted horribly. Cant say there were many other Holdens I like the look of, even the modern ones.
Check out what the Japs had at the time datsun 1200s they didnt have V8s back then it took a few more years for the skyline to come out and beat them. Need to study your history young boy.
go google.
A notorious rust bucket that gave a good ride. My older Belmont was definitely more robust as opposed to more rust
my school boy car was an slr5 with bolt on pants flairs, preferably metallic lime green. not lightening by todays standard but an excellent manual boxed grunter. my inner school boy still wants one. my accountant tells me i can have a Sunbird with a lexy donk, modern suspension and party dress much more easily...
@Router, the comment by Hiram.Maxim wasnt nasty, they were stating a fact. It is difficult to find one without rust.
Like most cars 40 years old. If people dont like Holdens or Fords, why leave nasty comments here ? Does it make you all feel good ?
