It is interesting that no-one questions the ethics of Newshub in happily publishing information that they knew was leaked and possibily inaccurate. The speaker should also ask them as receivers of the privileges attached to being members of the Parliamentary Press Gallery to please explain their decision.

My bet is it was leaked by someone who want Simon bridges gone. Probably came from Judith Collins or one of here cronies

This seems the epitome of a storm in a teacup. Either MPs are entitled to use the Crown limos or theyre not. If theres a limit then cap its use, if not then dont go on a giant bleat bag session. How much is too much? Who decides? Focus on reducing the cost of that as a service as a whole, not the fact that MPs are using it. Its their job to get out and connect with New Zealanders.

I personally find witch hunts about spending incredibly boring. Doesnt matter who is doing it. There is an appetite in New Zealand to demand to know why politicians have to spend money at all, It is embarrassing. There was a time when Winston Peters was attacked when he was Foreign minister last time, for travelling first class and using a Limo in Washington. Ridiculous, as if he is supposed to hitch to the White House, and travel cattle class, as New Zealands representative.Bridges is entitled to do all the travelling he likes. Even the enquiry is a waste of time. The stats come out next week. If people just calmed down about spending this wouldnt even have been a story. The only time this was a worthy story was when perk buster Rodney Hide took his new girlfriend on tour in Europe, simply because of the barefaced hypocrisy of it.Otherwise, a non story.

So already it appears these figures are inaccurate and could include a period when Bill was still in politics. I feel this could backfire pretty badly on whoever leaked this.

Im not a fan but as Leader of the Opposition, and a new one at that, this expenditure is ok with me. He has to get around, talk to the public and I applaud his work ethic in doing so. I wonder if a rival for his position had a hand in this? I doubt well ever get a clear answer.
