Nice piece. Small businesses will come and go but I hope the real gems flourish in our new CBD.
There are a number of very busy restaurants in the CBD and I wish them well. Always puzzled by commenters saying they never go to the CBD, missing out on a lot. It is getting better each week. As you mention it is the staff who truly make a place memorable. Sorry also that Villas has gone, great place for breakfast!
Thats turning into a great spot. Its an easy walk from the exchange, theres the giant space invaders game and theres always a lot of new areas to see, if you follow the new walking paths. If you do go to the restaurants (there are heaps to choose from in that area) take the time to have a good look around. Its not every day we get the chance to see our new city emerging. Youll see lots of other walkers enjoying the new pedestrian access ways too.
So Johnny, your message from this article is that a well-run business offering good food, drink, ambience and service can do well in the CBD?
Havent tried either but will for next special occasion!
Agree it is distasteful. Its not part of the dining culture or system in NZ and it should be up to the diner to elect if they happen to chose to, rather than have to refuse.
Did you miss checks all the boxes? I switched off there.
Good positive supportive article/promo Did kind of glaze over a bit when on-trend popped up, was waiting for an on-point
St Germain... Quality French fare everytime.
I seem to recall 27-steps is one of those places who attempt to shame you into a tip by requiring you to opt-out (on their eftpos terminal) if you dont want to give one? A practise that I feel is distasteful
sun dog diner. best food in town
Im going to both. After that recommendation, how could I not?!
That isnt in the article... Still tough in the Cbd for small business. Not only does the business have to battle the economy but the CCC and Otakaro as well... Go figure!
All that back-scratching is making me itch
Stick to your political anti council articles Johnny, they are much more entertaining.
Not saying much if Christchurchs hospo scene is the best its ever been.
This article lost all credibility when he started raving about The Monday Room. Ive had better service at McDonalds.
