| Lol - the flip-flop coaltion... was it ever in doubt that their cynical power grab would end up shelving the difficult and stuffing up what they have done. You couldnt write this stuff... about how woeful this government has been. What did we expect though with a puppet-smile pretending to be in charge, when the reality is chip shop assistant is her only experience of note. | 99 | 122 | 23 | Ras Thavas |
| Oh this is priceless .. the socialist trolls on here who have been banging on why its such a good idea, will then spin it to why it should not be introduced ... And yet another committee that has been all talk with no outcomes. | 95 | 111 | 16 | Mr marshy |
| Cullen earned a packet from taking part in the review so hes all happy. | 91 | 100 | 9 | Concluded |
| Yeh. Another flip flop coming. | 76 | 94 | 18 | Copper Bottom |
| With some justification These are usually comments from professionals in the field who deal with businesses and tax transactions daily. They are not career public servants or ex-pollies with an agenda to push. I know who I trust the future of tax in this country with, and its not political journeyman who are on record as hating rich pricks. | 64 | 68 | 4 | GorillaWarfare |
| Rather than look for ways to increase tax revenues is there a working group in place looking at what is unnecessary government spending? There will never be enough revenue much like there will never be enough of an inheritance for your kids if your kids havent been weened off parental support. The âpocket moneyâ will just keep on getting bigger and bigger along with the âtoysâ. I would much prefer a working group with this focus. For example do we really need to pay for all the retirement perks for MPs when their salaries and overall packages are probably more than 5 times the average worker? Should we be paying the first year of university free when clearly some students are not made for the place? etc. | 54 | 56 | 2 | iamhendo |
For a government that promised no new taxes, Labour has done a great job of stretching the truth to add plenty of additional tax; so why stop now? How will the die-hard Labour fans react if their is a flip-flop on tax now? This has very little do with National at this point, these are decisions and actions taken by the existing government. So it will be interesting to see the reaction from the public. | 52 | 64 | 12 | Y2KBugs |
| Yep, time for him to get off the taxpayer gravy train, his policies were widely rejected, get out of our lives! | 47 | 50 | 3 | Bobby George |
| Wow , you cant make your point on anything without blaming National for everything and this time you go back to 1975 to do that. You lose your credibility right at the end | 44 | 51 | 7 | That Maybe So |
| Sounds to me like labour dont want to take advice from the very group they set up. Every politician knows implying capital gains taxes is political suicide. | 44 | 49 | 5 | Winterstorm |
| Jacinda does not have the guts to stand by her convictions. Yet another back down or watering down of flagship policy. | 43 | 58 | 15 | Al100 |
| probably gets paid more for no outcome than I get in 5 yrs. | 41 | 42 | 1 | bushka16 |
| They also promised no strikes and to be fair and transparent... | 37 | 46 | 9 | Bobby George |
| We already effectively have a capital gains tax on residential property, if sold within 5 years of purchase you pay tax on any gain made on sale of property other than your main home. Still love to see Labour go next election on a cgt or other taxes, goodbye Labour. | 37 | 44 | 7 | wendy6 |
| No matter what they will just keep putting up the indirect hidden taxes that they have . | 36 | 41 | 5 | Rastas |
| no no no.only makes it worse for the poor.Look whats happened to the rental market....lefty government interfer and up goes the rent to cover the cost. | 34 | 38 | 4 | Roasted |
| Ha ha ha - Labour, they just dont have a clue . . . Can the adults please return to the house, the kids are running amok. . . . | 34 | 43 | 9 | Blah.Blah.Blah |
| So the Winston NZ First led coalition with Labour and the Greens has dropped the CGT. Personally I hope they continue on with it - all the way to the back benches where they belong. | 33 | 39 | 6 | Fibber |
| Cullens surely had his day,move on labour stop wasteing tax payers money on a stupid cgtax.bring back national 2020. | 33 | 45 | 12 | bushka16 |
| This is Cullens thinking: Hey look weve debated this CGT topic long enough to get a good consultancy pay packet, lets move onto other areas that we could screw more tax payer money with our tax working group! | 33 | 40 | 7 | FortySomething |
